It's funny how people undervalue players wanting to be traded in, while overvaluing players that want out.
Tim English is worth a mid to low first pick alone at this stage. Probably not worth much more.
Even Redden and Wellingham cost us a first round pick in the teens.
from memory they were shit drafts so we were keen to trade our picks out

What does this seasons stats show for English?

They are a fair bit better than his full career stats.

Clearly getting a lot of the pill but WB can afford to play a 207 cm midfielder instead of a ruckman because their on-ballers are elite. We wouldn’t have that privilege.

Yeah he's from Oakleigh. Was listed as 197cm last year, but as we've seen with J Williams, Hough, HEdwards and Allen they can get taller. He's still only 19.
Unless hes growing still I'd rather a pure ruck instead of another ruck/forward who's incapable of taking the number 1 ruck spot

Jack Williams can jump, has average athleticism there. It's more his turning circle and being more physically developed than his contemporaries that I was worried about and being a tweener. He was 194cm and that always meant as best a tweener second ruck. Now at 198cm or a touch more and he's a genuine second ruck option and a much better forward than Bailey Williams ever will be as he can kick straight.

To me Dixon has been the find of the season. Naish a close second but I feel in his games so far Dixon has shown more than Bailey Williams ever will. Plus he's actually a handy forward (it's his primary position)

Even if our draft last year results in just Hough, Naish, Dixon and Strnadica and no-one else comes on i'd still be ****ing stoked with that haul.

Broadbent is a future star first ruck. The first genuine straight ruck prospect in a few years that looks like a genuine star. Is a genuine powerful tap ruckman and has very good skills and is a good mark. I have him anywhere 5-15 in the draft depending on someone reaching for a ruck. Rucks always tend to slide a bit and we need him to pull the WA card but walking away from this draft with Hewett and Broadbent would be perfect. Broadbent is also already 205cm and 100 kg's. So he's a lot more developed than a lot of drafted rucks and could likely be playing within a couple of seasons.

I'd actually happily trade next years first for broadbent. Hewett with our first this year, Robertson in a trade with brisbane for ports second. Take our nominal second round pick to the draft and look at flankers. I don't rate the midfield depth of this draft.

Firmly believe in always looking to improve your list across all areas. Really hoping Gaff and Bailey Williams are interested in going home and we can improve our draft positioning. Naish on one Wing, Sheed on the other.

Say we were to finish Last and port 4th last I could genuinely see us getting their first round pick and future first round for pick 1 to take Lemmey. That future first could secure a pick around 8 which would genuinely allow us to take Hewett and Broadbent. Ports second for Robertson and even if our second rounder is a bust i'd see that as a bloody successful draft.

I was wondering why there wasn't more hype about lemmey from the u18s games last year as he looks a real talent ! It was he was and under-ager .

I get the feeling you don't like Bailey Williams

I’m not sure Port would go Lemmy, just because of the SA factor. I’d be pretty confident they would draft Wardlaw at pick 1. They need a genuine inside mid to pair with Wines and Butters.

We need to keep our first, second and ports second and hit the draft hard.

Free agents or undervalued fringe player trades sure go for it, otherwise a big no to big fish in my opinion.

We need a rebuild and English et al are only going to set us back.

Dissagree.

Happy to use our later 2nd Ports to land a promising mid who is struggling to get many games in good sides.

Id be ok using Ports 2nd and a 2023 future 2nd to land English.

I agree we should use our best two picks this draft and our 1st next year at the draft.

So Ports 2nd and our 3rds are all we risk at the trade table if at all.

English is a second ruck forward, why would you trade such high picks for him?

You could target Neale from Geelong in a year or two, for much, much cheaper.

English wants to be # 1 and IMO has improvement left to come. Many rucks peak at 30. And currently he'd be in the top 5 ranked rucks in the comp and he's only 25.

Ports 2022 2nd around 24 before FS academy bids, slides to 26-28.

Eagles 2023 2nd likely the same range.

Two punts mid 2nd round at two unknown kids versus a known quantity who is still improving age 25 playing the hardest position on the ground. And a position we are getting desperate to fill.

We retain both years 1st and this years 2nd to hit the draft.

Thats a balanced approach IMO.

Luke moves like a midfielder, English like a mobile giraffe. Ferarri V top of the line Toyota (Great car)

English is better in close with quick hands supporting his inside mids. Does well below the knees and in chaos situations, aka Bulldogs style.

Jackson is a running, burst tall who can win a tap and then bursts out with teammates and gains meters for his side. A tall running mid.

Both are very good, one more inside, the other more outside.

Id have to agree, I would actually like us to give Dixon a crack at the number 1 ruck this week and see how he goes. Maybe he just isnt tall enough, but he seems to be able to hold his own

Why is everyone popping their cookies over Deven Robertson.
He's not going to be our saviour, could be half decent I suppose but I just don't see A grade personally.

Think he dominated or at least performed in the top few in the 18s carnival few years back .....the AFL has a way or working youngsters out and whether they are up to the grade or not .
I think Robertson would be worth a late second rounder after Eagles make top 4 this year !@ dreaming maybe .
