Whats the point of having success if you cant look back at it and reminisce?

Better than looking back at nothing

On SM-G925I using BigFooty.com mobile app
I agree. Watching at the moment is hard but whining about it reeks of entitlement, and blaming fringe players is misguided. We have some downtime before our young and yet to be drafted players give us some hope. Talking about some glory years is not a bad thing.

David King on SEN was pushing the idea of a mid season trade.

His example was Guv to Doggies for their first rounder this year.

West Coast pay Guv for the year and Doggies get the KPD they desperately need to challenge at the pointy end.
It helps us fast tracking the rebuild with a mid to late teens pick

I like the idea and would do it.

Probably will not get the same value at the end of the year.

The concept would allow more clubs to go all in when they think they are at the pointy end.

Meanwhile we would have pick 1 to 3, worst case pick 18, pick 19 and Port's second say at 30 to 32 worst case plus some later picks.

Surely Gov would not go though? Correct me if i am wrong but doesn't he run a plumbing business in WA.

good point , so do we just let Freo pick him up ?
He is a very good player, I would not like to see Freo pick him up. Surely we have the stronger cards now in terms of draft picks and cap space.

Would rather see him remain at Port than Freo get him. Perhaps Port see a place for Waterman who seems surplus to our requirements. Not a straight swap of course.

I would do the trade but not sold on idea of clubs being able to trade in and out mid season. It would add an extra dynamic to the comp though.

He is contracted. Freo would have to pay big overs . Port demanded the world for a contracted ladhams last year who has not lived up to the trade capital.

I like Georgiades but he would be having the same problem as waterman atm . 3rd tall forward in the waste land that is our forward line . Without inside 50 he would struggle. Port are +12 inside 50s more than us on average this year .

We need to fix the source of the problem . The midfield

I know stats aren’t everything but in a team that has very low forward 50 entries and poor delivery Jack Darling who has had a very poor year stacks up ok against this must have young gun. A young gun playing for a team that provides better opportunities for their forwards.

I am not saying Jack couldn’t do better but not sure why Georgiades is thought of so highly.

How brutal will we be?

JK and Hurn will retire at the absolute minimum.

Some big calls will need to be made.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but isn't Waterman contracted till 2024.

End of 2023

So unless he asks for a trade he’ll be on our list next year. Highly unlikely he’ll be cut with a year still remaining on his contract

Why would WC pay for him though?

Not a popular opinion on here, especially for posters beginning with Z but I don't think Waterman has been that bad.
He's not a deep, power marking forward and our lads have been carpet bombing a virtually never lowering their eyes.

He's a solid player, in the right role. Linking high HF for mine (ala the Tom Lynch manoeuvre)

Georgiades is a great contested mark at 192cm and would be an ideal 2/3rd tall deeper. I just don't know how we get it done without losing high picks.
Young talent we won't trade...Edwards is from SA but he'd be steak knives. Maybe they could revitalise a player like Rotham or Petch?
It's a hard one. We have so many glaring needs;

A grade mids
Fast running defender with great kick
True dangerous small forward (Ryan I don't see as this)
Big Power forward
ect

Uggggghhhh

Because we already have his salary in this years cap and his age alone would not justify a 1st rounder
Not that I think it would happen, but I cannot see any reason to pay approx $500 000 for the last part of the year to play for someone else, regardless of getting a late first rounder.

If they want him, pay for him.

Thanks for correcting me, it was late and I didn't check.

In regards to Nelson being a full time tagger I don't see it. His only role I see him being able to be AFL quality at is a BP

Another example of prime list management. should not be on anymore than a yearly deal.

How? He cant defend for his life.. He ball watches and gets drawn to it to easily and has the footy smarts of a rock.

He gets lost further up the ground. At the very back I actually think he's decent and better than Witherden and a fair few others we have thrown back there. He's hard at the man, has decent speed and when not under direct pressure is a very good penetrating kick. He would always be in the last few selected or be on the edge of the 22 but there is a spot there with Hurn retiring, the regression of Rotham and Witherden actually being a truly shit, slow as treacle defender.
