Is Culley due to play in the WAFL this weekend?

Yes. Club has said the intention is to get him training this week with the expectation he’ll play WAFL on the weekend

Culley nominated on an 18 month contract I'm pretty sure

He did indeed. I missed that. Contract list updated. Thanks

I know stats aren’t everything but in a team that has very low forward 50 entries and poor delivery Jack Darling who has had a very poor year stacks up ok against this must have young gun. A young gun playing for a team that provides better opportunities for their forwards.

I am not saying Jack couldn’t do better but not sure why Georgiades is thought of so highly.

I must say watching a few Port games he has struggled. Young I guess but not the dynamo we need perhaps

Did you watch the game? Did Sheezel play midfield? As by that it looks like Sheezel has gone midfield, which I've been hoping for!
With these numbers he's firming as my pick.
He's type of guy that hurts with each disposal, 37 of them would've been class to watch. 100% watching that game this week.

Was happy to trade down for Sheezel and grab another pick.

David King on SEN was pushing the idea of a mid season trade.

His example was Guv to Doggies for their first rounder this year.

West Coast pay Guv for the year and Doggies get the KPD they desperately need to challenge at the pointy end.
It helps us fast tracking the rebuild with a mid to late teens pick

I like the idea and would do it.

Probably will not get the same value at the end of the year.

The concept would allow more clubs to go all in when they think they are at the pointy end.

Meanwhile we would have pick 1 to 3, worst case pick 18, pick 19 and Port's second say at 30 to 32 worst case plus some later picks.

Hate the idea.

List building is part of winning a flag. Getting a Gov-quality player mid year compromises the competition IMO.
What do you say to the team that loses a key player post-mid season trade? Where is their option to plug a hole by trading in a player?

The team holding the player would have to agree to it.
You just can't poach a player.

Sheezel and Keeler are really the only two athletic and footy smarts ability types to shake up the picks outside the top two. If we finish 17th it's pick 3 and if Sheezel keeps putting in these sort of midfield performances he'd be my pick 3. In saying that I would rather try and split the pick or even move back 1 slot. I can see Essendon getting a hard on for Tsatas. Hawks desperately need a tall defender. So all things remaining the same and assuming Adelaide and GWS overtake the Hawks I wouldn't be unhappy trading down that pick 2 slots. As shown it would likely get us a second rounder or better.

Sheezel doesn't have the athletic profile of Rachele but could very well be a mix of Marc Lecras and Toby Greene. A star HF (genuine HF) who can play midfield at a high level would be high on our list of needs. Even if you look at our best 22 now the struggle apart from game plan is getting the ball from HB to HF and into the 50. Sheezel is the type of player that would greatly help with that. Just remember Lecras and his output just before going down with that knee.

For Hewett to bring himself back into that top 5 picture he has to show a bloody lot more in the second half of the year.

You think you see tanking now, just wait it mid season trades come in. Would gut teams at bottom of ladder of their good senior players for draft picks. Would be dire

I don’t think he is must have but he is a very talented forward IMO and in the perfect age bracket. There is merit to your point but I think stats don’t really tell the story with tallish medium forward types. Fair way to go before he hits his peak though and I think he’d make a great 1-2 punch with Allen.

Im not saying we need to trade 19 for him - just that that is likely going to be a minimum starting point to prise him loose.

Think you misuderstood the post.
As an example, Doggies identify a gap in their list and trade mid year. E.g. McGovern. Suddenly they're pushing for a flag.
A week after mid-year trade finishes, Dees lose Steven May and have to play some c-grade back up instead.

See the issue? Doggies have an incomplete list coming into the season so get to plug their hole at the mid year trade. Dees have their list compromised and are given no opportunity to plug the hole other than through players already on their list.

Nothing in my post alluding to poaching players clubs don't want to lose.

This disappoints me. It hardly helps anything to start up petitions to get a player delisted. People need something else in their lives if they think this will do anything to help the club. Delist yourself pls petition starter.

Disappointing and immature. Stupid! He might not be a star, but he is out there giving his all, whereas keyboard warriors who likely huff and heave to climb off their sofa take potshots at him.

19 as a starting point?

Hard pass.

He'll frustrate most here doing very similar acts to Waterman. A goal a game (at most), not particularly tall or quick, and is clearly a 3rd tall or tweener.

If we were up the ladder and our 2nd was 30ish then sure, but not for 19, he isn't good enough to justify it.

Rumour alert. Mitch Georgiades is home sick and the Eagles are all over it and wants to play for the club.

Would be ok with this. Provide we draft mids woth 1 and 19
They have screwed us over with Ebert and hot Lycett for free (end of R1 was ok compo) so happy to get revenge on go home players

I’d give them back their second rounder

And imagine if BigFooty was allowed to choose who we traded out. We'd have no one left. "In round 6, 2021, you missed that tackle. You are gawwwwn cannnnnt".

He averaged a goal and a half last season as a 19 year old.

If we picked him up this year for a reasonable price I’d be all for it. Maybe we could use the threat of the PSD next season to get something done while keeping our first 2 picks this year.

Georgiades is better than Waterman above his shoulders and below his knees. He plays a lot taller than 191cm, and is much more agile. We’d be getting a potential 200 game player if we brought him across.

Darlings going nowhere you'd think.

Waterrman is contracted but I wish he would look elsewhere.
Its funny because at the same age Waterman had better stats than Georgiades has this year .

Waterman like our whole team has regressed badly.

Before , during and after our 2018 flag we had issues with our midfield ball winning capability. We have struggled to generate enough forward entries to win games of football . It has been a major flaw in Simpson's game plan/style .

Only 2 AA years from natanui and elite forward 50 conversion has kept us competitive.

Its not that hard to imagine if we fix our midfield issues our forwards will start to flourish.

I suppose my point on waterman is its not his fault

Obviously there will have to be some parameters put in place.

Reckon it's only a matter of time.
