North won't get a number 1 priority pick. It may be mid first round of end of first round but that's it. I can't see them trading down unless they do get a start of first round priority pick. Even then it probably just means the same mid they would take anyway + busslinger

So realistically we only need to have Hawks finish 15th and want to jump above essendon. It's probably our best bet particularly if Sheezel comes on strong playing more mid time in the second half of the year and both Wardlaw and Tsatas come back well from injury.

The dons will go home grown talent. I expect them to go small and then pick up best available tall with their second. Or they Take busslinger.

Adelaide probably just take best available with their first but almost certain to be a mid. Probably don't want to get burnt with a metro player with potential homesickness issues. We would want Phillipou to keep coming home strong in the SANFL and he really only needs to have 1 great champs game in the midfield to be the man on their list.

GWS who knows. Do they go small and back best available small or do they go say Busslinger if available. I think a lot will depends on who they keep. Clark or even Keeler as a bolter could be an interesting one for them.

So yes GWS beating the hawks and the hawks finishing 16th probably gets us our man if that is Hewett even with trading down 2-3 picks.

Hewett just played inside against the widely regarded number 1 draft pick and was the best mid on the ground by a margin. Gets us the most suitable player and secures us at the very least an extra early second rounder.

Very interesting speculation. It sounds promising. If only we had a crystal ball. How we trade will be very interesting. We must get a ruck- forward.

We need to find a young ruckman that's 6 foot 9 / 205cm, preferably one with decent hands. There's absolutely no point putting any more time into Williams. His tapwork is non-existent, rarely takes a contested mark, and doesn't tackle or chase.
Meek for Port’s second/our third/pick exchanges is a no brainer for me.

Would Freo deal with us? Let’s see.

Seems a loyal type, I doubt it.

Had a shocker today, but his best is easily best 22 for us.

I doubt we’d get much more than a mid second rounder for him at this stage. Rather keep him.
Got to say I think Duggan’s development has stalled.

Today he was responsible for at least 3 screw ups. His inability to hit targets is a grave concern. If he wasn’t a first round pick, posters would be calling for him to be dropped and traded.

For a first round pick, he has a very low ceiling. Not sure if the chasing shadows zone defence is to blame but I have no confidence in him and that has been for a couple of seasons

I'm also sceptical about the strength and depth of this draft. And there's not really any KPFs at this stage.

If we decided on Hewitt and knew we could get him at 5, I'm okay with it. But the scenario is unlikely as too many moving parts have to coincide. Trading out for a Robertson or Bruhn and pick 10-15 is not an option IMO and I'm pretty confident the club won't go down that route.

Im happy to drop 2 spots for the right price. Last years 2 spot downgrade looks like we will get a pick around 26.

What will one of the Vic clubs offer to get Wardlaw or Sheezle?

Giants around the mark.

Do not trade lower than live pick 5. For the right price.

North taking Busslinger would be incredible for us.

If they do, hopefully the Hawks are desperate to get above the bombers to pick Sheezle. We swap with the hawks and get something extra in return. The bombers grab one of Wardlaw or Hewett and we take whichever one is left.

Bingo.

Unfortunately I think North will trade pick 1 for pick 5 or 6 if they want Busslinger. They need to get more proactive, have a stack of quality mids but need another tall ortwo. Especially defense.
