After the disruption to the u18s last year, this is the ideal year to take a 19 year old Victorian who went undrafted last year but has had time to show their wares this year. 1st player we take should not be a mid-career state league player.

Culley is being billed as a 1st round pick so we can essentially get 2x 1st rounders and 2 decent second round selections in (Nat Draft). Plus Chesser and we are looking at 5 new highly rated kids in our Round 1 team next year.

Unpopular opinion, but I think we delisted O'Neill at the right time.

End of 2020, he hadn't played due to injury, as much as he was a great U18 we had no idea if he was going to improve enough.

2021, he had an OK season in the SANFL, improved in his final few games
2022, he has started to show he might be up to AFL quality

There is every chance we might have got rid of him at the end of 2021 if we hadn't at the end of 2020 - which would have been keeping him a year too long. I hope he makes it (hell, maybe we even grab him again), but we were never going to carry him for another season and a half considering his situation.

My assumption would be the reporters talk to the recruiters so the lists going around are a general consensus by the clubs' recruiters.
