Florence is a Machine.

May cost us a few 50m penalties though, because sometimes he feels like throwing his hands up in the air.

For balance it may mean we look to a ruck later this year and trade for English as it looks like his dog days are over.

Pretty sure no one on here will be upset if we take Culley then Florenca.
I haven't really seen anyone on here suggest taking anyone else except maybe Carmichael.

Florenca first?

Epic melts?

Knowing the club and the way this year has unfolded….there is no way the mystical Jai Culley ends up on our list.

Just won’t happen.

Florenca first would be a mistake with the younger mids available
Gut feeling we don't treat the MSD with the respect it deserves, just like our womens team. Doubt we'd have tapped Florenca on the shoulder telling him we're picking him if we weren't using our first pick on him.

Florenca and a no name project tall is who we'll take imo.

I know you're right but I still really hope you're not.

Essendon trying to get Culley to play in their twos team speaks volumes imo. Perhaps there's an understanding between clubs that Essendon will grab him.
Unluckily for us, there’s an understanding that Melbourne will be drafting Wardlaw this year.

I don’t think that’s how drafting works.

I just want to iterate that while Culley may become a star there is so little to go off at this stage. I said earlier that if he plays the full year and continues his improvement he would be a likely late first, early second rounder. Maybe even higher if he steps it up further.

But the reality is he's played 3 good games and everyone is frothing over one of them being against Vic Metro which was missing Wardlaw, Ashcroft and Tsatas in the midfield.

It's very speculative and while I like what i've seen I haven't seen enough yet. The thing is he is the prototypical player that recruiters love the look of. Tall, strong midfielder who kicks goals as well. He's literally played 3 games in the midfield as an overager. That is it.

I'd be more than happy with Derksen and Florenca. Oh and just to put it out there guess who Derksen played his best game against. The beagles kicking 4 goals from 22 disposals and 7 marks (oh and the club has seemed to take a shining to players who have dominated against us in the past). At least Derksen is playing at league level and has grown since he played the 1 game of VFL last year as well in round 1 and had 18 disposals, 6 marks and 4 tackles then too. 197cm so is also a good height and is quite athletlic from the couple of games i've seen.

The MSD isn't like the ND I reckon at least in the early stages teams may have 'dibs' on certain players, or at the very least there is probably a general understanding (as is the case sometimes in the ND), we probably wont pick him and neither will North who are likely desperate for forwards/defenders, Essendon having pick 3 will know who will be available and who wont be, hence their invite for him to play in their seconds team.
