It makes perfect sense to remove all scoring doubt from the league (or reduce it to a minimum) especially in close finals games or a Grand Final when so much is on the line (or over the line?). I kind of feel sorry for him last year he got paid 1/2 a rookie salary because he was picked in the mid season draft .
This year he got paid half a rookie salary because of covid .

The lowest paid double premiership player in afl history.

He is also a free agent
