How good is Zac Langdon?

Apparently he wants to come to west coast, I just haven't seen much of him.

Is he a decent get?

I think for the right price he'd slot into our forward line as a small forward crumbing option.

No we would’ve drafted him originally if he was 🤟

Nobody is coming West. There's been a couple of vague articles about it and that's about it.

Temper expectations 'errbody.
Patrick Cripps wants to come west. Carlton are trying to resign him but hes keen to come home.
By all reports, Fremantle have massive salary cap issues in the next 2 years with all their back ended contracts.

I would be going after him. Brander and steak knives for Cripps to finish with us.
Our salary cap will be better when JK, hurn and Nic Nat retire. Put him on a back eneded contract.

We would need a very thorough medical first

Surely this is bullshit ?

Have lived in Victoria for near 6 years and have moved to the country to get away from Melbourne haha
I love Melbourne. Lived on the mornington peninsula for 3 years before moving to Sydney, then back to Brisbane last year.

Having said that, I probably like Brisbane the most but that's likely because I grew up in Tassie after we moved there when I was a kid, so Brisbane still doesn't feel like a massive rat race.

Helps that I live 2kms from the CBD and still only pay $380pw for a decent sized apartment. You'd struggle to get a studio for less than double that price in Sydney so close to the cbd.

Jesus I would want him very cheap if we picked him up. Lazy and injury prone.

You have pretty much regurgitated what Hackdorn said on the radio this morning.

unfortunately Id say freo are well in front of us for Jordan Clark at this stage
By reports, Freo are more keen on him.

Freo have a first rounder, but they won't spend that on clark... Other then that they have 28 and we're at 30

BOND 007 Thanks for taking the time to reply, I do appreciate that.

Point taken and I knew, when I posted it, that my post had a few tangents in it.

You already know my thoughts on Worpel and how highly I rated him, Constable I admit hasn't been in anywhere the same league as young James.
Ainsworth is just a bug bear for me........ and maybe I better just leave it at that.

However my original post it's just pent up frustration, that has been born out of us not being able to draft IMO decent midfielders.
Yes we are good at trading them in, but the drawback with that strategy is that in order to do so, it generally means that you have to pay overs to land your desired target, which then intern weakens our draft capital going forward.

I also have a habit of calling people on their sh*t and talking about the elephant in the room, I do it at work way to often, it is admired by some BUT doesn't endear me to all.. funny about that.
But someone has to tell the Emperor when he is not wearing any clothes.

I am also probably my own worst enemy, in so much as I watch, way to many WAFL Colts games and consequently have a vested interest in young WA talent.

There was a lot of highly rated WA talent on offer last year and we got none of it.
With no first rounder this year it will be ditto again

I was critical of XON where we took him, ( side not you did put me in my place when reminding me - that to have then got Bailey Williams where we did was a masterstroke, as I had a late first early second grade on Williams) .... sorry I digress.... but XON was at least a genuine bonafide midfield and I now pay you guys credit where its due , he was a good pick. He looks the most composed and intelligent midfielder that we have drafted in years.

Again all the best in the next month.
Monocle - everyone in the club would be frustrated including the recruiting group. You wouldn't imagine the number of "What if...." conversations that have been held.

For the record - the biggest bugbear of mine was the 2009 draft where a particular member of the team was adamant about a certain Mitch Duncan. Imagine the different trajectory of the club if that name had been called out at 22 or 23. But that's the beauty/problem when 5 or 6 opinions are involved.

There are a couple things

1) the club is aware of its strengths & weaknesses so midfield talent isn't ignored. However there is no point selecting midfielders if you don't believe they can make the grade. A better footballer is a better footballer no matter what.
2) the pure high grade midfield talent is at the pointy end - after that questions are raised. And to be fair WC haven't had a lot of selections in the last 10 years within the top 5. At 17-18 years of age there is so many factors that can happen i.e. growth spurts, injury etc that its a bit of a crap shoot. Then there are also intangibles like - fitting into a professional environment, maybe living away from home & issues that happen back there (I.e. Gaff) that are out of the clubs control.
3) posters like to compare footballers as though the comparison is clear-cut but its not. Let's use Worpel as an example. In his 2nd year Mitchell went down, & Omeara was having some issues so his skill set fitted exactly what Hawthorn needed. But his season this year wasnt as good as those 2 players moved him to one-side. Let's say WC selected him, where would he have played? Hutchings came off a good year, Sheed & Redden were also inside footballers & there was Shuey. So he wouldn't have had the opportunities to show his skill set. But looking at him this year where he was pushed out a little, some of his flaws were exposed.
WC learnt a valuable lesson from the couple drafts starting 2007 where they were spooked by having too many identical players who basically ended up leaving (Selwood, Stevens, Ebert) because there weren't enough positions for their skill set.
4) whether we like it or not - big guys win the big games. It is why Richmond threw the sink at Lynch & Geelong have been 5 years into Cameron despite both having such strong midfield. Good big guys generally come at a greater trade cost than good little guys - supply v demand factor - so it's MORE important to get the big guys right first.

I'm not acknowledging ANY trade suggestions for an overpriced, overvalued Patrick Cripps.

He's a Free Agent next year FFS, hold your horses for 12 months and he won't cost a thing other than Salary.

Shuey to HF, Cripps to the midfield.
