Roast Cooked against the Saints - Rd 2, 2019

Leaders once again did not stand up!
Forward line zero cohesion
Too slow moving the ball from half back!
No to way running from our midfielders!
Skills were putrid.
The better team one!
For some stupid reason I have hope we will turn it around.

But for f$:/s sake do not talk to the media all week, time for talk is over! Let the footy talk!

Personal changes needed!

Outs: Baguley Mckernan Langford Guelfi (have a few games in the reserves to work on finding the footy) and probably brown.

In: I’d give Stewart a go, bring in D.Clarke (hard working grunt midfielder), Ridley (shouldn’t have gone out in the first place) we need another forward target who comes in??

From Sydney, can’t see the game and could only follow on the radio (afl app).
Question - McKenna kicked in last season and only had an occasional issue.
In the 2 games, he’s having a lot more trouble. Is this because of a defensive coach change?
From what I hear he seems to be finessing a kick and turning it over.
I just can picture him using the new goal square rule to run on and break out.
Has he been told not to?
Virtually no leads to kick to so he has to try and pin point a pass through traffic.

Is Stewart playing that badly in the twos?

Where do you start ?

Can not remember a game where we have been so static. Time and time again there was no hard spread. Just players jogging to position within the Saints zone forcing us to kick down the line, backwards and across or trying dangerous kicks through the middle. It was like our thoughts where the middle is blocked so I will leave it to someone else. It was terrible.

Once again too many dropped marks.

Too many players rushing into contests they did not need to be at. Unable to work out the three zones of a stoppage.

Ruck is a cream puff with no physic strength and falls over a lot. Chugs around the ground like an old tractor.

Myers almost slower than me. Struggles to effect a contest either way.

Key players out of form. Dev Smith. Walla. Raz.

Zak Merrit better but still despite getting nearly 30 it was not a commanding game.

Poor overall tackling. Too many Saints breaking tackles.

Not being able to hit handball targets.

Langford simply does not have the natural midfield smarts or aggression to be the big body midfielder.

I don't think this point can be emphasised enough.

Posters confuse Bellchambers being prepared to smile while he is pushing someone with Bellchambers being prepared to have a physical impact on a game. Yes he has mongrel is prepared to act like a total dickhead but it is in no way useful.

He's symbolic of the whole team. The occasional bit of style over any prolonged substance. You know what would be really nice, given that we'll refuse to player Draper? If we had Tom Campbell, who started his career in our system, as a back up who could at least put some pressure on and be a physical presence. Instead we have Zac Clark who, you guessed it, was delisted because he was a ruckman who lacked physical presence.

We’re all over the shop. They got most of their goals in first half from stoppages. Do we even practice stoppages?

Moving out of defence looks torturous, can’t work our way through zones. Poor disposal, taking the wrong option so many times. Small forwards badly out of touch.

Anyway, on the positive side Stringer looks a lot fitter and starting to look explosive. Gets more support he’s going to win us a few games.

What is is with Saints fans? Around our area they gave Francis heaps every time he went near the ball.

Who are the natural mids in this side, by that I mean the guys who played most of their junior footy as mid-fielders because I think we need to get away from playing flankers in the middle?

Shiel and .... err ...Sheil. Oh and Clarke but he can not kick ......

Worsfold said paying punters had the right to boo but they should know it wasn't helpful.
"I hope our supporters understand our players are disappointed. They don't need to be booed to feel disappointed," he said.
"But that's everyone's right. So we'll cop that."
