We really arnt asking for a 2nd rounder outright , just upgrading our 3rd to their 2nd .............. the fact that they are looking at seaby just as an insurance ruck for 2 years with the benefit of no salary.

With Brissie they will have 6 picks inside 40 and wont use 34 by the looks so no problem for them and we cover Mcduds salary.

Hey lets face it if we dont offload them we pay it anyway, this way we get a look at 2 good kids.

forget Maric IMO, rather 34 for Mcguane and 37 used on a couple of draft kids and hopeful long term prospects!!!

Maric can actually ruck though

McGuane cannot hold a spot in one of the worst backlines in the AFL, even after injuries to several of his competition.

If we get a half eaten sandwich for him, we will have done well

a second round pick is a pipe dream

this was a year he should have been locking in his position in our backline. instead he went backwards, massively, and we had to look at Grimes, Rance, and Batchelor (who of whom have been at the club for 5 minutes)

Astbury and grimes where injured and have age on their side . Maric had the grand total of 3 possessions, 3 handballs in the 2nd or 3rd game of the year IIRC .
By no means saying McGuane is a great player, simply think our offer for Maric is exaggerated ?

We know Maric isn't as good as Jacobs so pointing out he only played 6 games is a bit irrelevant.

Summary:

Deal with Maric getting closer - offered second round pick, but they would consider a player (we've asked them to tell us which player they would want).

Healy queried why we weren't after Vardy/Renouf/another ruckman, but CC said that 'we're already a fair way down the path with Ivan' (didn't really say that he was better than these guys, but seemed almost resigned to just going for Ivan).

Then talked about how long trade week goes for, and David King asked whether we should have it all combined into a few days instead of a week.

Spoke about Hardwick's contract for end of next year, and CC said that we'll have discussions about his contract either late this year/early next year, looking to possibly extend it.

When asked about how he assessed our year, he said that it was 'patchy' - mentioned the emergence of our midfield/rance/vickery (the usual), we were more inconsistent than he would have liked (no crap).

Then they wrapped it up - no talk of any other potential trades.
