What are your thoughts on our over age academy guy Keidean Coleman?

We have had 19-20 AFL listed guys in our NEAFL side every week over the opening 6 rounds of the season and Keidean has been highly impressive either forward, back or wing, has been in the bests on ground most weeks.

he's one i liked from Brisbane Academy, good x-factor and goal sense, decent chance of getting drafted.

Hugo Ralph-smith playing for Haileybury College on the weekend. Kicked 5 goals, was clean and impressive. Not making your top 50?

Hugo Ralphsmith is good i have him there or thereabouts, but atm he isnt in my top 50

No potter,wild,j.martin or gardner interesting

i was a fan of Potters last season, until earlier this season he started playing selfish footy, i still like him and his speed/evasiveness and goal kicking, he just burnt me with his selfish play that reminded me a little of Billy Hartung and as a Hawks fan, Hartung's memory is toxic, he has a long way to go to get in my good graces again :p

Wild, every time i see Wild play i think, his possessions are so Wild, his name is apt.

Gardner is ok, ive had him in my top 40/50 all year, i dropped him recently based on less than impressive performances

J.Martin, i dont know who that is, if you mean Mitch Martin he is in the top 50. #23 i believe

Yes potter slow start to season but hitting straps as of lately hard to not see him go high when at his best

Wild started the year sloppy as of what I’ve seen lately seems to have improved and looking very clean out there

And sorry yes I meant Mitch Martin

put Riley Baldi (Gipps)in the top 50 in place of Jarvis Pina (Peel), both good players, but Riley Baldi has the runs on the board from last year and has put in some good performances since coming back from injury.

Baldi's not big, he's not overly quick but he IS a bloody good no frills natural footballer that can find the pill in bunches. :thumbsu:

MID-SEASON DRAFT

you would think the draftees will be from the 25 that are having medicals this week

u/18's
Daly Andrews - Western Jets
Kyle Dunkley - Gippsland Power
Cody Hirst - Eastern Ranges
Mitch Riordan - Dandenong Stingrays
Jarvis Pina - Peel Colts

VFL
Frank Anderson - Northern Blues
Ray Connellan - Essendon VFL
Lochlan Dickson - Coburg
Mitch Hibberd - Williamstown
Sam Lowson - Coburg
Jake Riccardi - Werribee

SANFL
Cory Gregson - Glenlg
Lachlan Hosie - Glenlg
Michael Knoll - Sth Adel
John Noble - Wst Adel
Mark Noble - Sth Adel
Matt Nunn - Norwood

WAFL
Ajang Ajang - Est Perth
Josh Deluca - Subiaco
Oliver Eastland - Claremont
Brady Grey - WCE WAFL
Jack Mayo - Subiaco
Declan Mountford - Claremont
Marlion Pickett - Sth Fremantle

NEAFL
Adam Tipungwuti - NT Thunder

i highlighted the ones i think are the better ones, i also like Angus Hanrahan from Sandringham Dragons and Joe Ayton-Delaney from Oakleigh, they are possible pick ups, also Ben Kelly as a ruck option if any clubs are looking for a young ruck to invest time in, i also like Declan Carmody, he is playing SANFL reserves atm but is killing it and looked really good in the SA V WA Trials so another option outside the 25 players doing the medicals imo.

spent some time recently looking at stats for the u/18 for the first time this season and noticed Harrison Parker and Tom Wischnat 2 players i really like the look of having low poss numbers and goal numbers and it explains why they didnt make the Allies squad, i couldnt find stats for Jackson Barling, but im sure he has good stats, but 1 player surprised me a little Sam Thorne - Syd A was more productive than i thought, so he has gone up in my rankings a bit, Ellam also kicked more goals than i had thought (8gls in 4 gms)and i look forward to seeing these guys play in the Championships, as for the nableague Zak Pretty was one i had liked earlier, but he has stepped up his game with 40 clearances being a stat that makes people notice along with his over 50% contested poss numbers, 27.7 poss a game and his 5 inside 50's a game, he also won player of the week on AFL Draft Central, another player that has come to prominence has been the returning Riley Baldi, i had him rated highly last season, but injury had him drop out of my list, since returning a few weeks ago he has come back and had slightly better numbers than his great season last season and looks to be raising in the rankings also, Jay Rantall is another 1 to show what talent he has, 6 games 5 goals, 26 disp a game, 33 clearances and 4 inside 50's a game, coming from basketball in his first season for GWV which is doubly impressive.

also Will Martyn has had a lot of poss but a lot(approx 70%) of his poss are uncontested and for a guy not overly quick and getting a lot of uncontested poss, you either play wing or half back and im not sure if he would get the big numbers playing in the uncontested roles? Griffiths also gets a lot of uncontested footy but plays half back, depends on their DE% which i dont have access too, but when watching Brisbane DE% seemed to be an issue overall, so im not sure?, on the other hand Beau O'Connell i really liked and looking at his numbers he is clearly the best talent for NT imo, 20.2 disp, 5.5 i50 a game, 7 goals in 5 games in a team that struggled to score, 4 marks and 4 tackles a game, for mid/half forw they are very good numbers, he does have uncontested poss over contested poss, but i see him more as an outside/inside mid, moreso outside than inside and half forw combo, i wish he was a bit taller though.

P.S. another thing i wanted to say was i believe Jack Musika(Sth Fre) would be a good inclusion to the WA squad for the Championships.

Hey Davo,
Can you tell me a bit about Baldi? I enjoy following draft prospects when I can (which seems to be hardly ever these days) and I hadn't come across him before. I'd also be interested to hear what you liked about him pre injury?

Riley Baldi is 178cm 74kg, nuggety mid, he uses the ball very well although i dont have DE% stats, good decision maker, seems to have good endurance, he is an accumulator, averaging 21.4 disp in his under age year and 24.7 in 3 games this year, but he just sticks out as a player amongst others, he is also a goal kicking mid which gets an additional point when talking mids, his contested poss numbers are around 45-50% which is an indicator he can win his own ball and last year he finished with 77 clearances in 16 games for an underager thats a good sign.

Hey Davo - just interested in the fella from SA - Morris. He seems to have shot into the spotlight - what have you seen / heard about him ?

i saw him play in the SA V WA Trials and he impressed on the wing, i looked into him and found out he is averaging 4 1/2 goals a game as a forw in the u/18's, so that means, he is probably a good goal kicker, i liked his speed and general play on the wing and he has flexibility in positions he can play in, i would like to see more of him at the Championships to make a more accurate call on him.

Would have thought Jeromy Lucas is pretty stiff, would he suprised if he isn’t in the Allies best 22

Saw the Vic C play a strong Allies team in game 1, Vic C winning by 1 point. R.Baldi, Flanders and Cahill had good games and so too did Crosserley, Green, Collins and i thought ONeill played ok from half back. I think the scores were 51-50 in a pretty scrappy afair.

Callow for the allies also played well as a tall forw, Thorne also had a good game for the allies, i missed the first quarter and some play on the far side, Gore also performed well in his role i thought

2nd game looked like Vic Metros u17 team Eddie Ford, Downie, Brown, number 8, 24 and 51, i only recognised Oscar Lewis and i think McAsey? i thought number 8 was maginness at first but they called him Ads so im not sure. Vic M won by 10 points i believe.

also Delahunty(turns out it was Conroy a qld ruckman) had a chance to win or draw it after the siren and kicked it out on the full. In the Vic C game.

8 for Metro was Adam Carafa

24 for Metro was Harrison Jones, no 51 for Metro but 51 for allies was Sam Gaden

yea i meant 51 for Allies, my notes are all scribbles, thanks for the information, the 2nd game was hard to figure out who was who...

P.S. there was a big hit on Rantall in the first game or at least i assume the 13 for vic country was rantall, but he came back into the game albeit a bit shaken
