Davo-27, thoughts on Archer May? 19 year old 197cm forward. I've watched him a couple of times and he looks as though there's a bit to work with. 27.14 in the talent league.

I find most 19 year olds that miss the MSD are unlikely to get drafted, the other factors are, did they perform at the state level and/or did they get a combine invite? If no to all of them, then it's unlikely.

Have not seen Boston Everitt,s name anywhere. Not good enough, not his year, or playing in the wrong comp?
I have seen him play a few times for Gold Coast and Queensland, not good enough yet, we'll see if he develops/improves next year? and I'll get more viewings of his game.

just thought i would update a little, Hastie i thought played well showing more run and flair from the backline, which is what i liked about his game prior to the champs, i just wish he had shown more of that at the champs, Collard having a good run in the finals, Tholstrups pace has me a little worried so i might drop him a few spots, still talented enough i think, Charlie Edwards bolting, he looks fantastic in highlights reels, not as impressive for full games, but he has good traits, Leake and Schoenmaker played well in finals for Tassie, Weatherill has put in 3 good finals performances and is playing the GF this week, Tew Jiath looks a likely prospect, the media hype for him means we(Haw) might not get him?, Zane Zakostelsky playing as a short ruck in the colts, i really like him as a late prospect, nothing to lose a lot to gain if he works out, Luca Slade also having a good finals series in the sanfl

Hine-Bastion also in State Combine
I forgot also that they added some players to the state combine late. Riley Wills (S), Luker Kentfield (S), Jack Cocking (EF) & Odin Jones (WP). How many clubs need to request testing to get a state invite? Obviously some interest in those guys now. Wills will tear up testing.

Every year there is a late buzz on players from WA. Two weeks ago it was Zakostelsky and now it's Wills and Jones. I try not to listen to the whispers though.

Yep they’re all solid players from my very amateur pov. I’d heard that it’s usually about 3?+ clubs for a guernsey at the State Combine then National can be anywhere from 5/6 +
All interested clubs would have met or at least spoken to players and done most of their checks by this point too.

I find most 19 year olds that miss the MSD are unlikely to get drafted, the other factors are, did they perform at the state level and/or did they get a combine invite? If no to all of them, then it's unlikely.
Will disagree with you Davo on this one. Your assessment does not consider boys coming from out of the system, and this lad is a good example of that. Understand he rowed for the last two years of school (during covid) and is also a late developer. This year was his first pre season of AFL, and at 197cm is still growing and present like a young Hawkins. Suggest a viewing of the last game versus geelong falcons on Sunday to see his potential upside.

well if he is good enough to draft, add him to the ridiculous list of KPP in this years draft :D

any love for Patrick Hughes??? Just won the Morrish Medal, yet i haven't heard a peep from anybody about him this year.
Inside bull, played trials could've been useful for Vic Country, but seems like projecting as more of a state league player, whenever I watch him play he reminds me of a lot of the good vfl/sanfl/wafl types.

I just put it in my signature, but I thought I would mention it

State of Origin for the AFL
VIC - 55.5%
SA - 16%
WA - 15.5%
QLD - 4% (rising imo)
NSW - 4%
TAS - 2.5%
Overseas - 1.5%
NT - 1%

I would assume draft numbers to play out similarly to this? Qld seems to be a state growing in AFL young talent in recent years and into the near future.

Luke Lloyd might surprise a few along with Weatherill. On par with Caddy and Morris. Caddy slightly ahead of the 3 based on attributes and potential midfield time in a few years. Looking forward to the testing results which may determine where they land in the draft. They’ll shoot up the boards If Lloyd or Weatherill pull out a 6.30min 2 km

Also, does matching a bid count as using a 1st round pick if its in the 1st round ?

Can you lock Arie Schoenmaker in to Brisbane’s first selection please. Unless there’s a key forward you rate higher there.

What do North already have? A heap of shorter inside mids, and a bucket load of springy half forwards. What do they need? KPP’s at both ends. What do they draft, more inside mids and half forward.

I just heard a rumour north are playing games flying Clarko to WA and are keen on McKercher and Duursma, so I'm running with it, that's all, I also heard a rumour WB are most likely to get GCS pick 4 and are keen on the wiz, just rumours at this stage obviously.

If dogs are trading their 2xr1 plus f1 then that will get it done but that’s stupid on their part. If the draft goes that way I’d almost rather trade with gws and take osullivan and caddy than Curtin. Also trade in for Logan Morris if there at 31.

If the rumour you heard involving North playing games is based on Clarko being there this weekend then that will be fabricated to some degree. Clarko is there as a guest of the WAFL for the GF. That Curtin is playing in one is just a convenient scouting oppo.
