I forgot about Kiddy, such a good player. And perhaps Eric. Not too worried about the rest. Although the extra development resources is important in the growth of talls like Payne, Chol and Ryan. The afl needs to find 200cm athletes wherever they can.

When you talk about academy's it really should be about who actually got to play in the AFL. Thats the kids dream.
This shows the pathway is working and really is only 10 years in the making in what was/is a dominant NRL state.
A lot of youngsters just can't cope being a fulltime footballer.
All the players below are from the Lions academy and got to playout their dream. Of course, others missed out.
Some are good, others just establishing themselves and a lot below 20 games.
A lot of names won't be known from people interstate and quite a few will have been forgotten by Lions supporters.

Tough to argue with many of these selections - good stuff Davo. The Saints will definitely take a player with our second round pick, looking for a slider in that 20-30s range. If we did pick our NGA kids with our two later picks, it'll be Cole then Hoffman in that order just based on where bids are likely to come I reckon.

Only other things that stand out are:

• I don't think the Dees will bid on Kako - probably a handshake deal in the pick swap they did with Essendon that they wouldn't bid on him
• Not sure that Berry would be best available for the Dees either at pick 12 - maybe that would indicate they don't think Kozzie is sticking around?
• I don't see Travaglia getting through both of Richmonds picks at 13/14, and
• Can't see Hannaford getting to 46

Its easy to understand why Blair Hartley would have no interest to trade upto pick #2 that would involve pick #6
I would be more than happy with any of Langford , Smillie , Smith at that pick

Would not be too unhappy if we ended up with the haul you gave Richmond in your mock
