Sydney should beat the Saints in any case. They shouldn’t beat Geelong in Geelong so feel like pick 3 is still 99% likely
They will, but not by much.Beauty Lions with the come from behind win means Geelong have to win next week to get top 2
Massive lossCrows could still finish as low as 12th particularly with Collingwood wrecking our percentage as we speak. Hawks will pick up a percentage booster against GC and Freo at home against Essendon is a risk too.
Pick 19 + Pick 7 for Pick 4 would be a loss.

Good. Our own fault for being so s**t this year.
Carlton held up their end and finished bottom 3.
That’s it, we’ve walked away with a very good pick. The highest we’ve had.Carlton achieved more than we all thought - 3rd to bottom was an outstanding result from them, shame Reid didn't insert a clause stating Bolton had to remain coach so we could have pick 1.
Mind you it was always going to be a battle with GCS for last spot - no one saw the Dee's debacle coming.
We (Pyke and his fellow idiots) sabotaged our season with bewildering selections and hideous game plan.
True that. And it is very funny to hear the carlton flogs crowing on how they hit the heady heights of 3rd bottom like that is premiership material and if they had won a few more games would have been closer to us. If we used that same logic, then had we won a few more games we dropped earlier in the season we might have been top of the ladder. Reality is a bugger though - they finished 3rd bottom no higher and that gives us pick 3 (barring a miracle win over geelong in geelong and a sydney loss). Any club would trade pick 9/10 + 19 for pick 3 every day of the weekThat’s it, we’ve walked away with a very good pick. The highest we’ve had.
We just gave them a better pick than expected.
Whilst that’s s**t on us, I’m not hoping to scrape into the finals so their pick is worse, I’m hoping we crash and burn so the blow torch remains on our club.
Then we use pick 3-4 on drafting a quality kid or using it for Luko. If their pick helps us achieve that then happy days.
What’s funny is how they now think where the actual picks end up us is important when they’ve spent 3/4s of the year telling us it’s what happens to the picks that counts and the winner won’t be known for years.True that. That is not quite correct in that pick 7 will be pick 8 after Tom Green is bid on and probably matched. So at very worst pick 8 & 19 for pick 3 - you have to take the academy players into consideration in terms of pure pick positionWe are likely to finish the season in 12th. Carlton in 16th.
Now if we went in to the trade period this year and swapped pick 7 and pick 19 for pick 3, I'd be very happy with that (if we had done it the year before and picked up Rozee we would be over the Moon). Top 3 gives you a chance at the elite talent. Given the player Carlton picked at 19 hasn't really shown anything special, it looks like a good result. It's not the disaster for Carlton that it looked earlier in the season (which is our own fault), but it is still 100% worth doing that deal.
Very true, but also means pick 3 is actually pick 4 if we bid on him...That is not quite correct in that pick 7 will be pick 8 after Tom Green is bid on and probably matched.
