McCarthy invited to draft means he is going in the top 10: BL know if they don't grab him at 7 Carlton are ready to pounce at 13 next in line Freo. I'm in agreement the Berg slips to us then we all luv Vosso.
Coll has been talking up Salem ahead of Lennon in press so he maybe their preferred choice.

Is that really how it goes? I'm really not sure they'd do it that way. Hasn't there been plenty of instances in the past when players outside of the top 10 have been in attendance? And instances where players inside the top ten haven't? I'm thought when Freo drafted Hill they went around to his house and he had all his family around there.

He's 94kgs now. There is no way he was 96kgs.

He was as high as 98kg at one stage. Has a very strict weight program due to the fact that all he has to do is look at the iron for him to get big.

Hurn looks huge for a 18 year old in that photo - very very thick/solid - especially the lower body. Wax is body and give him a tan and you would see more muscle definition.

I wish we developed Hurn as a mid from when he first came to the club.

So does everyone including the club and Hurn. Hurn had groin issues and he had to be managed and allegedly it ended up he couldn't build the endurance needed to play midfield.

No reason why he can't pinch hit in the centre for small periods though.

Would be an interesting defensive HFF like a Chick if we had better options across half back but that has been discussed at length before.[/quote]

People thoughts on Brenden Abbott, he's a big boy at 188cm, super quick and looks both skilled and composed. Can play back mid or forward and from what I can tell just needs to work on his endurance / general fitness.

Looks a tad mean and not afraid to use that bulk. The team needs a bit more mongrel in them but he also has skills.

188cm came top range in the 20m sprints and vertical leap testing.

Pick 43 or 49 wouldn't be a stretch would it?

From what has been said around these parts abbott would be more a rookie pick.Like you I think he would be a good addition.I have only seen his highlights on the afl site but as a HBF he seemed to be kicking quite a few goals.
Not sure about his personal issues that caused him to go back down south instead of finishing the season in perth tho

Shannon! Imagine going to school with that guy.

Hopefully they were linked to someone saying go have a break and stop looking so good. Still remember the grumbling out East when we "hid" Kerr in the lower leagues prior to drafting him.

Abbott is interesting very quick, agile and good leap. Left footer and can play back, mid and also likes liking a goal or two. If he had a decent tank he'd be a impact player for sure.

The game is played 80% above the shoulders some say.

What were Acres' injuries like? Given our recent injury troubles I wonder if it might be better for us to avoid an risk of an injury-ridden player with 11. We just got Ellis after all.

Can you tell me more, what did we do?

Have we done something like that since?

Mature big bodied mid great foot skills, tough contested ball winner - Travis Tuck anyone? Would rather him on the list than Smith..

I certainly wouldn't be upset id if we put him on the rookie list on a very short leash. I.e. 1 strike and you are out. I don't think we will though. Too scared to go there again. Not that I blame the club at all. GWS would be crazy not to think about it at least.

Offseason sucks, nothing to talk about.

It would be a ballsy move for the club, but if they spun it as being so confident of having learnt from previous incidences, and having the the appropriate measures in place to handle those with "unique" circumstances, it could actually work on both the image and performance front.

He sounds like he'd step right in to our midfield.
