It's a lot easier getting a kick in the 3s. Nobody wants to put in the hard yards at training (or even get to training). Part of the reason the previous two coaches have left, both Mick and Rick had difficulty getting guys to want to play senior footy rather than plodding around in the seconds and thirds.

The club is in serious strife, especially considering the buzz it had going only 3-4 years ago.

Both Mick and Rick...you are kidding aren't you.

Sandown finishing order and changes;

2011: 2nd : Mick
2011: 2nd : Mick
2013: 6th : Mick
2014: 3rd : Mick

(result: plenty of players at the club pumping along with Mick so don't align Mick to current issues)

2014: Paid GM in B.Phillips moves Mick on and due to loyalty and unsoundness under phillips players move on as well due to this decision

2015: 9th : Bean
2016: Bean like Phillips walks as HE cannot motivate and build on the carcass left by Phillips. When the going got tough at Sandown both walked.

They have to play the 3rds in fact they have to play anyone wanting to put on the jumper so they can actually keep the place alive.

If only the committee stuck fat with Mick ( sorry Mick, no pun intended) and not their paid GM then Sandown would have been in a far better place now.

If Sandown fall away what a demise and waste of money with the new rooms and lights - just a sad affair.

Surely SFNL have to step in, however whatever they do, make sure their Female Footy Chief stays away.

Rick had no chance in his first year with the amount of players that left, no coach could cope with that. His problems came with his refusal to listen to those around him.

And you will get no arguments from me, I'd rather play for Mick, he didn't quite get there but I had a lot of time for him; always backed his players in. But he had trouble with getting players to play senior footy because they had it there own way in the ressies.

My understanding is that he took the job well after the exodus of players however one of his main submissions was he would bring a few CH and other players in. Yes, Rick has a tendency to talk AT people rather than with them. I also heard his departure was not purely football related as he had other matters on his mind!

I have played at a couple of clubs in lower divisions and they all struggle to get 2's and 3's at training, so not unfamiliar to any sides really however once your senior players walk through money or poor decisions then club will struggle such as Sandown now. Pity decision makers didn't have the experience, strength or vision on their decision regarding moving Mick on.

So how many ressie flags did they win ..... I'd say zero so that statement is putrid.

Who's winning this weekend gents?
-Just for all the mount fans on here, the hills to give mount their first upset of the year.
-Ashwood to give sandown their 3rd 150+ loss in weeks
-South Yarra by 60
-Cpl by 30 over dandy, with cpl throwing plenty of cheapies behind play
-Doveton in a cracker
-Lyndale by 40

It saddens me to see this score line from the weekend. You question everything, and no doubt have to feel for the current volunteers putting in week in week out just to keep the club afloat. No clubman or opposition fan takes satisfaction in seeing a result like that. It's a sad state of affairs and I hope somehow the club can find a way out of this massive struggle before it's too late.

So you must be a e/hills player who copped a cheapy from a cpl player last round. Name names or numbers.... Fess up.

What a great bounce back from Sandown, they should be wrapt with that effort!
Anyone get a look at either the Mount/EHills or Doveton/Hallam games?

Both look like they were v good games.

That's a good tonic for a club that's struggled all year, tough getting players to training when it's cold and wet.
