Think you'll find they'll have the same achilles heel they've had the last few seasons.

The coaching box
I agree ....we can only hope the Coach stays all season ....I'm worried what the new fitness Coach may bring though

Nah, happened in November.
Was it also pre-Christmas ? .......WOW, that's really bad luck, as the clubs haven't ramped up the competitive work till after Xmas

Maybe go reread what I wrote about Gallucci

If you weren't implying that Gallucci is a better prospect than SPS, by stating stats from round 23, I would really like to know what you were trying to highlight

Second reread what you wrote. By your own admission SOS is s**t. He took someone who is barely top 5 at 1. Just like when he reached for Pickett, Marchbank and others. Then due to the fact they are clueless they over value a kid that throws away a 1st when there were so many options. Stocker trade was not ballsy or gutsy it was arrogance and stupidity.

You are either some sort of troll, bias or have no understanding regarding drafting whatsoever. Never have I suggested that SOS is sh1t, nor a messiah, he is just a damn sight better than the morons we employed in the past.

Just a heads up, the main priority of drafting is ensuring that you have no busts, selecting the best player is a bonus. Just like Brodie Smith was a great selection, although guys like Isaac Smith, Jack Darling, Luke Parker may be considered better players, yet none of that really matters.

Then you cherry pick, players like Marchbank, Pickett, Ahern, etc, all guys that have suffered ongoing injuries, yet add no balance, by mentioning Conigilio, Haynes, Thomlinson, Greene, Adams, Smith, Kelly, Whitfield, Lobb, Williams, etc etc

I would really be interested to know how much junior football you watch, to determine the merits of a player like Stocker, or the quality of next year's draftees

Interesting Carlton and Saints overvalued their picks and then willing to throw away next years. Only had to watch the footage from both clubs to why both suck.

Who said that either club overvalued next year's pick? Making it up again, based on your own perceptions? Have you thought that maybe both clubs, thought that the Crows may not have the rise that you or your club predicts?

Again, try adding some balance to your analysis

How about you shoo pest

I doubt most of the people in this thread would even be posting about Docherty's injury if it wasn't relevant to the pick trade we have with cfc. People feel bad for profiting from some other team's misery. It's an awkward situation. We all know ACL's are the pits.

Certified insane thought process. We're not the Carlton pity board.

We're the Adelaide board and we want pick 1.

Some people may like to hide behind a veneer of faux sportsmanly care. As if sportsmanship has a place in the AFL. But even that lot who won't post it publicly are jizzing that this takes us closer to pick 1

Easy to be sympathetic before we know what the Carlton pick gets us, but I'm certain if it turns out to be a Judd or an Ablett no one here would give him up to add 22 games to Docherty's career games tally.

Sucks for him but I guess thousands in far worse positions getting far less sympathy.

I'm not going to celebrate, and there's a long way to go this year, but won't deny my first thought was our possible draft position..

The main priority of drafting is to get the BEST AVAILABLE players who will contribute to win a flag.
Go revisit a few drafts and fine players that SOS has picked who have risen compared to Crows and Ogilvie.
Laird, Lever, Dangerfield Milera, Crouch, Gunston, Talia, McGovern, Cameron just to name a few.

Rating Kevin Rudd to Julia Gillard to Tony Abbott is a waste of space vs comparing them to the most successful prime ministers.
Because after 30 seconds you will lump them in the same box as crap. This is the same with SOS when compared to the best. Simple

P.S. you want to make excuses for SPS in round 23. He's been playing along side the clearance king in Cripps.
Playing on the outside of Cripps that day should have been a feast.

I am quite sad for Docherty, you don't wish that on anyone.

I'm insanely happy for us though, when you're relying on another team losing and their best player goes down for the season.

SPS is good. But his 2018 averages weren't that much better than Gooch.
The 2 big differences in stats are that SPS averages 4 more handballs a game and that Gooch averages an extra hundred meters gained a game.
Considering that Gooch has only played 17 games to SPS' 42 I'd hardly be singing from the rooftops with that return.

I actually think this could be a win-win trade, Carlton get what they need now and we get to spread quality over a few drafts. Having a pick 1 on our list will be amazing.

We are just aware of the Karma Bus.

Isn't 12 months still the benchmark to return to competitive action? Even so, I kind of agree, tackling drills are asking for trouble that is probably quite needless for someone 13 months from an ACL.
At some point in the training he has to prove he can tackle. if he's fully fit right now, or supposed to be, why not do the drills?

Feeling empathy for carlton/Docherty and wanting pick 1 are not mutually exclusive concepts.

You are either some sort of troll, bias or have no understanding regarding drafting whatsoever. [/QUOTE]
Troll: Pretty cheap considering your a Carlton supporter living on Adelaide boards.
Bias: Even cheaper thinking you got a good list and Stocker was pick 6. Keeping the faith we trust in Bolton and SOS
No idea regarding drafting: Let the results speak for themselves. SOS strike rate vs Ogilvie. I know who I'd back. The fact you continue to argue and make excuses for SOS busts means you have NFI of reality.

Laird, Greenwood, Cameron show me three of SOS equivalent rookies. You have to go to his 1st rounders.

What exactly is the nature of Talia's injury anyway? You don't just randomly pull off a kneecap and root around in there for the fun of it.

What is the issue?
Hasnt he had ongoing issues? ie bone on bone?

Sportsmanship has a place in every sport.

Whilst there was no pity or empathy for our injury situation last year, and we all know that injuries play a massive part in outcomes, no-one would wish injuries on another player or club. In my opinion Carlton have two gun players (not wanting an argument about 'elite') in Cripps and Docherty. It's a massive blow for them and Docherty.

Docherty has just spent 12 months in intensive rehab only to re-injure again.

If you can't see that supporters of other clubs feel empathy for the player and club that's sad. As for liking "to hide behind a veneer of faux sportsmanly care" I don't think you should judge others by your own standards. If you really don't care then why post it?

But don't have a crack at other people who may.

I hadn't heard that ? .....does sound like a torn miniscus though ...can twist the wrong way at home & do it ...but it's keyhole surgery
