Competitions Draft Prediction - 23 & 28

Newman, Hill and Manson are guys i would love to see in our system. I hope we really grab at least one of these boys. In saying that though is there any particular player that could slide to 23 that would throw our plans up in the air???? Not so sure this year.

I think 2 or 3 could slide easily. If GWS decide to pull any shocks then it could screw the following picks up.

Hopefully he decides to head off somewhere today to take his mind of the draft, then pulls a Darling (in more ways than one) and gets caught with his pants down in a girl's tent. Then he slides to pick 23 :thumbsu:

Pulls a Darling or gets caught in his darling? eh eh? That's all i got. Anyone know any over zealous bouncers?

there are always sliders (was looking through last years mocks, most had darling to melb at 12, lycett to port at 15 and heppel to WC @4 - all slid). The benefit we have this year (to and extent) is that a lot of clubs (headed by GWS) need taller players, and also others (Essendon) need inside mids. so outside runners or sneaky forwards may be the likeliest to slide based on that...

I will be very surprised if we don't get one of Hill/Newman though... seem to be in the mix for best available around our pick as well as filling a need...

Who do you think Pantskyle? Or rather who would you like? I heard this Coniglio kid goes alright.

In all honesty I have no idea this year. I really like the idea of Mason and would be happy with him at 28.

I will just trust the club. But I don't want a defender or Hill.

Warming to the idea of drafting Merrett. Seems like a person of the highest quality and pretty much fills a need perfectly. Height, pace, skill and a bit of run and carry.

Can't decide between him and Murdoch though. Perhaps Murdoch's ability to play as a leading forward target puts him ahead.

So long as we add some class into the side I don't care. Just glad with the intent the West Coast Recruiters are showing.

23: Merrett/ Murdoch/ McKenzie

28: Newman/ Lockyer/ Schade

Pretty much this for me as well. Really like the sounds of the Merrett kid. Would maybe also throw Talia into the mix

Yeah happy with that too.

But to be honest, I think they have been looking for this type of player for a while but our picks have been too good and unpassable players keep sliding to us (Lycett, Darling, Stevens).

This year are picks are in the right place to grab one of these guys and like you said most other teams are looking for a different type.:thumbsu:

If you can't see why, I see no reason to try and educate you. Stupid people see rarely change their opinion despite given facts, so your on the ignore list rather than anothing worth stressing about

Draft results;
pick 23; Murray Newman
pick 28; Fraser McInnes

Come on down Swifty. Think he won anyway.

Just an educated guess, but I think the WC have done well in addressing their needs again, we've got a plethora of HBF's so we didn't need any of them, there weren't any A grade midfielders left at 23, so we drafted what we needed, fast skilful forwards, Hill and Newman and shored up our KP stocks with McInnes - who looks an outstanding prospect, if he trains as hard as they say he does, he will no doubt be a success. I think Hams with another pre-season under his belt will be pushing hard for a spot in the 22 too.
The future at this stage is shining very bright, all our young midfielders will be putting big pressure on for spots in the 22 as well.
In the words of Bruce Mcavaney, "Woosha is building something SPECIAL".
