Since its been stated time and time again that this drafts top 20 are standouts with the rest considered a bit of a lottery, could someone identify this elite 20? Perhaps even have a stab at what order they might go in if you like?

I guess I am trying to just get some idea who might be available around our pick, and who from SA is likely to be playing AFL footy next year and beyond.

Thanks in advance.

Have a peep at the Draft and Trading Board - Here is a Phantom started yesterday.

Ebert and Greenwood are the most likely SA pick ups, whether they'll be about for us...time will tell

Thanks mate.

Pick 10 > Adelaide - David Myers - 190cm 85kgs - Perth (Utility)
Pick 27 > Adelaide - Jarrod Grant - 191cm, 77kgs- Dandenong Stingrays (Key Fwd)
Pick 30 > Adelaide - Steven Browne -181cm 74kg - West Perth (Mid)
Pick 38 > Adelaide - Matthew De Boer - 185cm 81kgs - Claremont (Mid)
Pick 59 > Adelaide - Matthew Wright - 176cm 76kg - North Adelaide (Sml Fwd, Mid)

Anyone know anything about these guys? I'm a bit underwhelmed by this list, but I dont know a lot about them. I didnt know anything about VanBerlo either though, so lets hope if we get some of these thier talent exceeds their reputations. Cant say I'm too happy about the potential of seeing another Victorian key forward on our list. We havent had much luck with that strategy.

Especially not at 77kgs

I'm a skinny ****er and 6'1" so 5 cm's less, and I weigh 81kg. He must be the skinniest little ****er ever. DO NOT GET HIM PLEASE.
I want tall midfielders. Ebert, Morton, Myers or Collier and hopefully Gaertner with our second rounder if he is still available.

I would also take Cotchin or Masten. But odds of being them being around would be infinity to 1.

Thanks mate.

That is a fantastic thread Markthirtytwo. It's so convenient and gives a lot of different peoples opinions on most of the players that will feature in this draft, so it ends up being pretty balanced too.

I'd be surprised if Grant was 77kg. He looks a bit bigger than that. I'd also be surprised if we took him. He's a good player but we'll take Taylor thanks!

havent really read what bigfooty has to say on the draft (and its almost always the opposite happens anyway so what the point right?) BUT on the few interviews i've heard sounds like top10 is ok after that it really drops away. Its what makes our trading for mid-range picks even more mysterious/incompetent.

That's not really true. This draft has quality about 25 or so deep. Can't say Top 10 is a number I've heard when talking about the drop off in talent...

While I have a very defined Top 7 (still not sure of the order) there is another good group of players that could fall anywhere between 8-20 in my books, which is probably where Pelchin is coming from there. After 7 it is a lottery in that regard, but I'd be surprised if he was referring specifically to lack of quality there.

Even after 20 there's some good guys that'll probably still be around like Maric, Greenwood and Farmer for example.

fair enough i dont know bugger all about it to be honest. Can just go on what the experts say.

Seems however given that we traded some fairly decent players getting a pick within the top7 or within the 20 mark should have been a priority.

20 is not enough when we have picks 27 and 30 (and even 38) ... so here's a top 30 without any real consideration for club's needs etc

Kreuzer, Morton, Cotchin, Henderson, McEvoy, Palmer, Masten, Ebert, Grimes, Meyers, Otten, Grant, Dangerfield, Ward, Selwood, Rance, Maric, Gourdis, Simpson, Collier, Rioli, Pears, Greenwood, Lobbe, McGinnity, Tarrant, Farmer, Jacky, Armstrong, Curnow.

Callan Ward is one bloke we must consider seriously. Exceptional skills and smarts, and not that small once he fills out at 183cm 71kg, will grow a bit more. I took him in the phantom draft at #10, mainly because Ebert and Myers were gone. But Wanted Myers first and foremost, 190cm running half back/wing Joel Corey like. Very good player.

But that aside Ward is underated by a few.

Didn't want Rioli at 10 as we need genuine midfielders with 10 not crumbing forwards. He is good but we can do better. Gotta fix the engine before you add the paintwork.

We are getting told constantly by others here that we have the engine of the future in our ranks now, so why wouldn't we get the next best available who fits our needs perfectly?

Rioli fits that bill going by the so called experts on the drafting web site.
We need pace in our forward 50. That's something we don't have at the minute.
