Edwards should have gone before Torney

Yep, but its the perfect spot to blood young guys, hence Torney having to go. Honestly, if Edwards isnt in our top 5 in the B and F this year he will be gently pushed, maybe with my good mate Bassett, the year after Goody. But Macca, with his pace and Adelaides lack of it, surely could play til he is in his mid thirties. I cant see Goody being Captain, as it will be very very harsh to sack a captain from our list

Yeah good point, I will be surprised if basset can reach the heights of previous seasons this year (hope I'm wrong).

I think the other thing that still makes Macca invaluable is his decision making and ball skills, what has happened to the AFC with regards to these areas??? We are appalling. McLeod and Reilly are the only one that seems to make the right decisions and be able to hit players consistently by foot. Missing players or kicking to players outnumbered in a contest puts so much extra pressure on us. I really hope we work on our skills and improve our decision making this coming season, or it could again be a very long and ugly season.

Yeah, that apart from pace is the one thing holding us back, execution under pressure and when it matters. Thats why we lose so many close games, when we get a sniff, we stuff it up. I rate goody, Macca and Reilly as you mentioned but we have a lot of "burners" under pressure. As much as I love them all for different reasons Thommo, VB, Porps are all serial offenders.

Why? It's not like his form dropped.

Need to work on the skills over pre-season as they were atrocious this year.

I think the games I saw basset play before he was injured were no where near the standards of the previous years. He was still very courageous at the contest and putting his body on the line, but getting beaten by his opponent. Maybe I just saw some bad games??

To the list of ball burners, I would add Knights and Stevens, in fact the rest of the team (although rutten and welsh were mostly pretty good users of the ball )

Basset played a great game up here on the Gold Coast, dominated the Roos

I missed the 1st 6 games, but from what I saw from the Hound was no drop in form.

Our ball use was atrocious. Stevens made some bad blunders earlier in the year, but overall, I think he was one of our better ball users.
