Looks like at least 4 changes will be made.

Out: O'Hailpin, Browne, Yarran, Johnson

In: Cloke, Garlett, Betts, Grigg

Irish for Cloke is a strange one, but you are usually on the money Molly.

Just quietly, with all the mods going to the game on Saturday night,
who is minding the store?

On the off chance we get beaten, this place is going to be a shooting gallery.

Hi Guys,

Beleive Molly is spot on with the changes.
Don't agree with Cloke coming back to replace Irish. Gives us no cover if T-Bird or Bower go down during the game. With Irish, we can at least swing him back but Cloke has only 1 dimension to his game. Huge risk by the MC for a knock out final.

Well I wont' be able to make the game, the earliest I may get out of here is tomorrow night and that is no guarantee either. To all the Blue fans going to the game have a great trip and may the force be with us.

Ok blues fans here it is... this is the team to win us the game

Backs:Hoops - Bower - Russell

HB: Walker - T-Bird - Scotland

C:Simpson - Gibbs - Stevens

HF: Murphy - Sentana - Joesph (to tag there best mid)

F: Special K*- Fevola - Betts

R: Warnock (massive inclusion, will dominate the hit outs)*- Judd - Carazzo

B:Grigg - Armfield - Cloke - Garlett/Yazza (toss a coin)

Note:

Hampson was dropped because he has no ability to play foward and he is having no impact around the ground. I am hoping Warnock can dominate the Centre bounces and also potentially pose a danger down forward.

Cloke he is in incase we need to move Sentana to the backline. Cloke can pinch hit in the ruck and also play forward, is in good form at VFL level and played well last time at the GABBA

Wiggins misses out as I simply can't find a spot for him tough call but I think the flexibility Cloke would provide outweighs the need for Wiggins

Only boys? I am sure we have girls here too. Better change that to girls and boys or they will have your balls for dinner.

Cloke an in? Not in this lifetime!

Is he there in case we lose so he can have another huge night on the piss seeing he won't have to turn up to any more training?

He has already played his farewell game and celebrated it, so he won't be playing another unless all other tall blokes on our list are quarantined with swine flu.

Molly was wrong last week and I am sure wrong again this week ..

I can tell you Black, Adcock and Bradshaw won't be playing for Brizzy though.

Having watched Brisbane play live all year, there are three things that need to happen to beat them. I've written assuming all their 50-50s are in. If they're out it makes life easier for us.

1. Expose their backline. I would go with three talls - Fev, Kruez and Carlos - and two lively crumbers, Betts and either Gartlett or Yarran. They only have answers for two talls and one small so this setup would stretch them. Then I'd chuck Carrazzo down there to match up whoever is rebounding, either McGrath, Drummond or Rich (whose been used there for the last few weeks). Believe me these guys are key to Brisbane and we can't tag them all. If Drummond is in he would be priority #1 - he's crucial for Brisbane's setup.

2. Pressure their delivery into forward 50. Lions have quality ball users - esp. Black, Power, Rich, Drummond, Johnstone. But these guys and their less quality ball (Brennan, Sherman, etc) users turn to custard under pressure. I mean really shocking delivery. We need to chuck guys like AJ, Army, Walker into the midfield to keep the pressure up.
For the first time in my life, I'm thankful for Terry Wallace's big mouth - all our mids will be out to prove they are not 'downhill skiers'. High pressure would put us a long way towards winning.

3. Rebound off halfback. The Lions don't defend well with the ball being run through the middle. Carlton have to be ready to take the game on and chuck players back there who do that (Army, Simmo, Bower)

I'm pumped for this game. Getting butterflies every time I go past the Gabba!

Nice post Brizzy, agree with you the boys especially in the middle will and should be very motivated on Saturday.

Nice post BB. Hasn't been a lot of quality recruits in recent months...keep up that quality of posting and I will start to get suspicious.

Good points. I like the idea of plonking Kreuzer forward against Brisbane...only concern is that leaves Hampson and Jacobs/Warnock on a fit and very mobile Clark. Jacobs and Warnock must still have question marks over their aerobic capacity, and as much of an athlete as Hampson is he doesn't cover the ground as well as Kreuz.

I doubt Drummond will get up. If it's any sort of quad injury he will need a miracle to be a chance in just one week. That said McGrath has been in some sort of form...always thought him a plodder of thie highest order, but has looked every bit as dangerous as Drummond in patches. Carrazo most likely to get the job one would think.

As for pressure on the ball carrier if we can do it half as well as Adelaide did to us last week were a better than even money chance. Enjoy the game, wish I could be there.

Heard on SEN the boys left the airport before with a squad of 25 including Betts,Garlett,Cloke.
I wonder if that is the 22 that got flogged last week plus the naughty trio or minus a couple with Grigg and Warnock thrown in.

Excellent question... crucial in fact.

In respect of the 25 man squad I am happy those 3 came in , however I would like to see Warnock and Grigg come in as well for Browne and potentially Wiggins or Yarran

Really hoping we DON'T go with the 3 prong attack on Saturday night. Kreuzer and Fevola have shown no signs of being able to function together in the same forwad line, and O'hAilpin has really struggled for form since coming back from injury.

Play Kreuzer in the ruck
Drop Setanta
Play Cloke as a decoy CHF up the ground (he does a much better job of drawing a crowd than Setanta, his current form is also much better)
Put some dangerous players at Fevola's feet (Betts, Carrazzo?, Gartlett)
Man up any spare man that Voss tries to put infront of Fevola

Sure its predictable but a Fevola focussed foward line is the only functioning setup we have. Elimination finals are not the time to be rolling the dice.

Well said:thumbsu: Sadly thats where we are at the moment. Not many more options than what you have said here.

I have to say that I'm thinking Cloke might be a key inclusion, particularly because I think Clarke would tear up Jacobs and would probably push Warnock as well, given Robbie's preparation.

Having Cloke, Kruezer and Hampson in the one team means that we have two options for a third tall in the forward line (Cloke or Kruez) along with Carlos and Fev, as well as three options for ruck (although I wouldn't want Cloke to be playing on Clarke or Brennan for more than two minutes).

These three big men plus Setanta give us a lot of flexibility in stretching Brisbane's defence, matching it in the ruck and even having back-up options for Brown if things go pear shaped (i.e. Setanta to CHB and Cloke to CHF, and we won't have lost much).
