Sorry, I was talking specifically about the high line chat. I don’t care about a game that was a month ago, irrelevant to me.
That's commendable as it's absolutely in contrast to every single other member of your supporter base who still can't let it go. This thread being a prime example.

The difference is they are all emotional and fair enough, it's their team. Im on the outside looking in and can see quite clearly that playing that tactic will not work in the PL.

Loads of pundits have agreed that the high line was suicidal but good on Ange for sticking to his guns, it was brave/naive.

Bit of a back-pedal. If only you were as brave as ange and stuck to your line.

That's exactly the point. Liverpool sat deep and still lost. He's acting like sitting deep was a guaranteed draw.
Sitting deep, inviting pressure, inviting shots, more likely be fouls in the area, handballs, ricochets, waves of pressure again and again.

But he may have under 8's coaching experience in perth somewhere (getting a gig one week as the normal fourth choice) so can clearly teach Ange a thing or two about football.

My question would be how often does a team escape with a result with 9 men for nearly 40 minutes? If you try and sit back usually the dam wall breaks at some point eventually as Liverpool found out when they had to last 30 minutes
Usually the dam does break, I agree. But at least you have the dam. That high line was free goals. It was crazy. I've actually never seen anything quite like it.

Honestly Chelsea are so awful, I'd have backed Spurs to get a draw with 9 men. Sterling is kinda washed. Jackson is a literal potato. Mudryk is awful. No way they can put together some intricate move in a packed box that finds Chelsea a goal.

It's Ange's fault that Liverpool had a VAR mistake go against them so instead of projecting on the officials (in the immediate aftermath) Liverpool fans have instead decided that Tottenham and Ange are to blame so will take opportunity to announce their presence on any issue involving Tottenham for the rest of the season.

With no Romero, VDV, Udogie. Sitting deep with Royal, Dier, Porro and Hojberg would have been such a great tactic 👍👍

Or as Spurs really.
For someone so nice never found someone I agree with so little on as you.

P.S. a new Gosha sock puppet agrees with, not sure that'd sit well with me. Account won't last long though.

By a solitary goal with the last kick of the game, by our own player.

You lost 4-1 and could have lost 8-1.

It was naive mate.

I like everyone else love Ange, he just got that really wrong and to be a top manager like a Pep or a Klopp he has to learn to also be pragmatic at times to find results and points.

They scored 1 in 35 minutes after the 2nd red, while we had 2 clear chances as well as an offside goal

I mean mate C'mon lol. That's where ******* morons go to be heard. They wait for any team to lose and call it a disgrace, soft, pathetic etc.

Claiming the honeymoon is over is a pretty weird comment off one game where the reaction has been pretty positive. But twitter experts are definitely the best gauge I guess.

The reaction has been mixed and it’s first loss. The high line was mental, which doesn’t make it wrong, but it’s drawn strong reactions one way or the other. Until now it’s been nothing but “how great is Ange”, I think there has been a shift now that’s all.

This is basically what I’m getting at.

I mean it has worked so well for us the last 4 years even with 11

You still lost so it was a shit tactic. That's your logic. Stop replying to me honestly, you've picked a bad position dug yourself a hole and your stuck now. No interest getting into a debate with a bloke stuck in a hole.

Mate who cares? People say peps dumb and Arteta ****s up and klopps this and that. Idiots will overreact with tiny attention spans and it'll all be forgotten in a week

Oh right, I forgot about the other 10 times Chelsea got behind and fluffed their lines.

You guys just need to breathe. You love Ange, I get it. He's awesome. You never want him to be wrong and you want to back him. Awesome.

But playing on the half way line with 9 men was dumb and it cost you the game. That's actually just the absolute truth of it mate.

I wonder actually if Ange would do the same against City or Liverpool. Surely he doesnt... maybe he's a genius cos he just reckons Chelsea are so shit, they wont score when they get behind us haha

What hole mate? We just disagree on a tactic used by your manager in a game of football.

You reckon it was great. I reckon it was shit and naive. I guess the result sort of favours my position on the matter. But everyone is free to have their opinion on the tactic.

What arent you getting? Chelsea had about 10 chances to score, they continually got in behind because the high line was nuts. The only reason you had chances to equalise late on is because Chelsea were profligate at the pointy end.

If they did that against City or Liverpool, it would have been a massacre.
But they weren't playing City or Liverpool, they were playing the worst Chelsea side in 20 years.

Oh right, I forgot about the other 10 times Chelsea got behind and fluffed their lines.
So Liverpool sat back and still lost. You're dumb masterplan for victory still cost Liverpool the game so your opinion is instantly invalid

So instead of doing the same stupid thing that makes team lose over and over again Ange tried something different to still get a result and it nearly worked.

Thought after Newy/Arse that VAR and officials would do their best not to **** up any time soon but after watching Spuds/Chelsea it's like they saw what happened and tried to one up it as soon as possoble.
What a great game for the neutrals though, ****ing chaotic mess. Especially that first half.

Half those were eventually called offside. Vicario kept us in the game like a good keeper is going to have to do when down to 9. Just as Allison did

What cost us the game was going down to 9. Not how we played when we got there

But they weren't playing City or Liverpool, they were playing the worst Chelsea side in 20 years.
Yeah for sure which is why im wondering when he says whether we're down to 5 men we're still gonna have a crack. Would he do that against a City or Liverpool. Surely not.

Which is why im wondering if he truly thought Chelsea were just too shit to punish the high line :D

I think the development out of this is how Tottenham will cope with the injuries?
Unlike other sides up the top they don't have quality of depth at all. Will take a miracle to stay in the top four by the end of the year I reckon.
They are in massive trouble right now. Maddison and VDV are just as important as son. They've lost the transition pass that cuts team open and they've lost the pace at the back for their line. But he's gonna continue to attack and all credit to him

So Liverpool sat back and still lost. You're dumb masterplan for victory still cost Liverpool the game so your opinion is instantly invalid

So instead of doing the same stupid thing that makes team lose over and over again Ange tried something different and still lost, but lost by more goals.
Fixed it for you mate.
