I'd say most seasons all of the hype over his ability with the ball was warranted. That area has dropped off recently though, along with his assist numbers.

And yeah the defensive stuff has always been stuck between poor and halfway decent at best. Walker bailed City out a hell of a lot more than Trent has for Liverpool (for example).

I think TAA can defend, I think it's more that he is "lazy". Yes, there are times where he might be gassed from running up the field but there are also plenty of times where he is pure lazy. VVD 100% recognizes that and blasts him in game. Post game today VVD was seriously pissed off.

If RM seriously want TAA then they should be after IK who covers for TAA a lot of the time. Konate basically plays two positions.

Under Klopp he looked awfully slow at times. That's not because he is slow it's because he looked lethargic.

Our main mistake was not having secured TAA on a long term contract so we can secure a proper transfer fee for him.

Its your prerogative if you think 4 assists in the PL last season (under Klopp) wasn't a decline from averaging 12.5 through 2018-2020.

If TAA keeps his current assist rate it will be an average of 7 PL assists per season over the last 3 seasons, which like I said is still very good but not definitively world class like the few years before.
