Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

I wouldn't be disappointed if Geelong gave up their first rounder (Pick 16 or 17 ) for Everitt. I like the look of him and it's a weak draft anyway. I think he be a nice replacement for Harley and I quite like the look of him at this early stage in his career.

I can't see anyone Doggies would want that Geelong would trade so it would have to be draft picks.

The way Thompson sets up his defense, Everitt would kick arse at Geelong.

He's not a KP yet but when he fills out a bit he will. Not happy about being dropped after his game v Collingwood in R22 I'd guess.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

I can't see the blues giving up our first pick, we haven't done it in any big trades yet, Judd (pick 1 remained ours) Warnock (kept pick 6)
We gave up our first pick (the Masten pick) for Judd.

Pick one was a PP.

That what I think. Right now he's a lot like Mackie but has the potential to be much stronger in the contest and and better in the air. Harley and Milburn are tall players who play on a small defenders and peel off to make contests. With Everitt's agility, speed and height he could be very good in that sort of role.

He'd obviously need to improve his reading of the play, positioning and contested marking but IMO that would come in time. Where I like Everitt though is his ability to set up play.

I think he will end up a lot like Bock actually.

Any chance of Scott Simpson being tradeable? A big unit KPF.

I can't see the blues giving up our first pick, we haven't done it in any big trades yet, Judd (pick 1 remained ours) Warnock (kept pick 6). So if you take that off the table will probably offer second rounder, experianced but fringe player (Fisher is definitly the most likely, although i doubt he will work for the dogs any better then he has for the blues this season) and a third young but out of favour player (I have to say Jake Edwards, who can play forward and has family history at the dogs)

you can hardly use that as an example, you wouldve been mental to give up pick 6 for him.

Freo still wanted it, being the great negotiators that they are, thought they could bully us into parting with it

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

Suggestion that St Kilda might be prepared to offer their first pick for Everitt. As of tonight, St Kilda, Carlton, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are considered possible new homes.

I hope his big brother does the right thing and talks him into a Swans jumper.

He's been very good at VFL level before injury and looks a decent/good prospect but I suppose it come down to how highly the cats staff rate him. Given we have Hawkins, Nathan Brown and Mooney I think he could possibile be trade bait if Doggieswere really keen.

Re: Blues Seek Everitt for pick 27

I'll hazard a guess. Salary cap issues and the premiership window for them is still half open and they think they can still get a Premiership in 2010 if they can just get the right Key forward in say Hall or Lloyd.

They are trying to get a player they want to win the ultimate prize before Acker and Johnno retire.

Nothing comes cheap so they have to give up something to get something.
Why would you give up a tall with Everitt's talent and potential to win a flag for Johnson and Akermanis?

Everitt might not be a first 22 player next year, yet the cost could be too high and hurt them down the track.

It reminds me of Carlton trading for the likes of O'Reilly, McGuane, Devonport, McKernan, Mansfield, etc. because we don't rebuild.

The Devonport and Mansfield trades cost us the chance to get Hall and Chapman.

 :(

The only notable forwards on the market aren't worth a 20 year old player.

They must have a younger KPF in mind like DanA posted...

I hope they don't get conned by Pelchen into giving Everitt up for Mitch Thorp.

Perhaps when you haven't won a flag for 50yrs you get abit antsy. Rumour has it Big Bad Bazza wants some big dollars to front up. If they are tight salary cap wise, then they have to make some room to fit in him and Lake.

Bulldogs will look to do a deal for Andrejs Everitt - Saints are keen (pick 16/17), as are Birsbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Carlton. Looks a likely type, Dogs will get a good pick for him.

So what's the problem precisely? Does Everitt want to leave or the Bulldogs pushing him out...

Uncertain on Everitt. Perhaps like his brother he likes regular change. Wasn't thrilled with opportunities this year, particularly come finals. Barry Hall and the Dogs about to start the serious talks.

source?
everitt just signed on with the bulldogs.
i don't understand why he signed if he wasn't happy at the club.
i hope he doesn't go.

Something just does not add up here. He has re-signed for 2 years, and the dogs lack of talls is universally acknowledged. So why the hell would they want to get rid of a promising tall at this stage?????
