And that’s where we differ.
I don’t see any pieces but athletic ability and effort from him.
He doesn’t seem to understand the basic game, and that is fundamentally where it breaks down for him, he can’t draw you a footy, he’s not a great decision maker and he’s below average with his desposal.

1 game with over 20 touches in 4 years is not best 22 material especially when he’s been played in prime ball getting positions.
Just because Jones is below average, doesn’t mean he isn't best 22. Just under half the players actually playing AFL are below average. That's how "average" works. Every team has half a side of below average players every week. Jones is one of those.

I think that he has an upside, but think he's good enough if he doesn't realise it. You don't believe either. Which is fine. Differing opinions are why we have the forum. If we all agreed, I wouldn't know what to do with myself for 5 months a year.

He’s only a best 22 player because we are trying to make him into one, we’ve been very patient with him. He was drafted as a mid and we are trying to turn him into a defender because you just don’t give up on a pick 9 so easily but if he doesn’t come on this year, the pressure will be on to retain his spot on the list.

This isn’t a key position player we are talking about here.
I hope we do have players go past him. Him and every other player on the list. But they haven't yet. Until they do, we should keep trying to make him (and every other kid) into a best 22 player.

We shouldn't be getting rid of players just because they aren't best 15 players.

No one is suggesting we do but is he really a best 22? You brought up Parnell before, he’s had a year compared to Jone’s 4 and I’d want him in the team to see what he can become and he has a great kick.

I hope he turns into what I see, but it has to be this year

I do like Parnell. Think we stick with him and see how he goes. Do need more running half backs still.

Imo he’s been gifted games over the past 4 years and I don’t believe he’s best 22 for us (in the worst 2 teams over the last 3 years)
So dud interms of an AFL player is where I place him.

I'm not convinced he's played ahead of anyone back there. I understand the reasoning behind your view on him, but I still see a footballer. Albeit one with perhaps questionable mental resilience that we broke and are slowly rebuilding. But I don't think he hasn't earned his continued selection based on his performances. I'll concede there might be an element of patience for inexperience. But there's nothing wrong with that.

Nicks has been very generous with Milera. Seems to like him up forward too which I don't really understand.

before injury Milera was shit up forward. Kicked 3 in about 10 minutes once, which was about the only kicks he got up forward ever. Half back or wing, if not, SANFL. Has never been AFL quality ahead of the ball.

I just think it's wasteful. What was the point of sinking games into Milera as a forward? Those games are valuable.
