Human error is always going to be factor, but it's interesting to see how the mis-counting has been been fluctuating across the count

At one stage we were +20 votes out, and now it's +11; we've managed to lose 9 votes overnight

The running total error is entirely human error - which is understandable, given the nature of the competition, number of competitors and frequency of posts. The comment about it being due to votes for eliminated clubs wasn't about the running total, it was about the spreadsheet I'm keeping.
