Because you saw last year how a midget brigade got bullied in there together with jom was a disaster. Only bringing in young at end of the year alleviated it. These first few games Fyfe has helped even up the numbers.

Yep. Brayshaw had a brilliant season in 2022 because Mundy held the midfield together. Fyfe is playing the same role this season, Brayshaw not as good but been given a different role.

Alex Pearce worked hard and did good. I expected nothing less from our captain.

Ironically I thought Johnson at least showed a little in this game (as against the first 5 weeks. So there’s that.
The quality of their centre square exits , dare I say ease, was just horrible.
Unfortunately if we are going to get anything out of Ras he has to play on ball. If we don’t want to play him there (which is fine) might as well trade him.
My another conclusion is that Serong is clearly the next captain.
JOM offers nothing.
Too many flaky players, Walker, Hughes, Banners , together with too many inexperienced ones, Emmett, Draper Ras , Johnson and then add in poor Sonny who is cooked. When the real pressure goes on these threads combine to awful effect.

I think I may be done with this club for a good while, it's hard to even get upset anymore when these types of performances are ingrained in the club. Likely not going to stop for good, but think I definitely need a decent break from football, do something better with those 3 hours on my weekend. The club needs to sort itself out.

I woke up at 5am to watch this. I was pumped. Ready to go! Within the first 10 min, I was losing steam. After the first quarter, I was worried...after the Eagles came out strong in the 2nd, I knew it was over.

Not really much to say except we were putrid all over the ground. I don't know how the players can let this happen and I sure as hell ain't smart enough to know how to fix it. Execution, game style, effort. All of it was off.

I just want to say "keep your heads up" to all the Freo supporters who are going to have to take a lot of sh** this week from WC fans. F*** them. I raise a glass of bourbon to you all!!!

We still lack depth in our squad (have done for far too many years now) and it just does not seem to improve with us losing experience starters year after year.

West Coast actually fielded more 50+club game players than we did this game.
So please try to have some restraint when calling for the likes of Sonny to be dropped.

We simply do not have better players to bring in and unless you want to again start another rebuild, we need small changes.

All season I've seen our greatest weakness is our bottom 3-5 players that are making up our starting team each week.
The likes of Banfield, Erasmus, Hughes continue to hurt us on the scoreboard with their poor/slow decisions leading to costly turnovers.

But, JL is hiding our depth problems by utilising speed and running fitness to stay competitive.
Under JL's reign of coaching, we have a very strong correlation of winning when we have a strong team of run.
Tonight, the Slime out ran us. We had our lowest total km's for 2024 (261km vs WC 269km).
We were obviously very flat after the prolonged stay in Adelaide, together with some recent tough games.
The final margin was the 6 goals up the Slime got on us before we registered a goal on the scoreboard.

We need at least Freddy and Switta back and I would like to see Chapman in also.
Erasmus needs to find some prolonged form and growth in the WAFL.
Banners needs to go and only return when he is one of 23 fit players in the squad.

• 17 contested marks to 7. Do our players actually know they're allowed to jump to try and mark the ball? Every time the ball was kicked there'd be a WC player a meter in the air higher than any docker around him. Barrass was marking whatever he wanted.
• How are our rucks letting Bailey Williams get more contested marks than both of them combined?
• I don't care that Sturt kicked two junk time goals, he was completely useless. Did not impact a contest all game.
• Walters is finished. Didn't even notice he was on the ground until that sling.
• Jackson misreads every single ball that comes in his direction. Shocking game from him.
• Ryan was pathetic. Unsure how he can produce football like his fourth quarter last week and then dish up what he did today.
• Another game of winning the clearances and doing absolute **** all with them.
• Banfield clearly in his head now. 0.4 from his last 7 shots on goal when that never used to be a problem for him. Completely erased all good will he made up at the start of the season.

Fyfe with 13 clearances was good. Doing what we need him to do. Shame all of them seem to be wasted since we're not scoring from them.

West coast are on the up, home crowd etc! But we are still 3 and 3 after a tough draw. If anything I’d be asking mgt what are they saying about the ridiculous tough draw?

The teams we beat have one like three games between them and we're six rounds in. The only "tough" part of our draw were the two games we lost in Adelaide. Team drank their own bathwater without even having the wins to back it up.

It seemed like we wasted a lot of energy early on in the game fighting to win the first contest and losing our head (and our skills) when West Coast put a fight for the next contest. We were pumped up for showing them our bravado, maybe thinking they would be intimidated, but they weren't.

Start of the 2nd quarter was a disgrace after going 4 goals down at the end of the 1st quarter. Just a lot of no contests, especially the long kicks in the air, along with a series of poor free kicks given away handing them easy inside 50s to build up a blowout lead.

Also don't think the coach had a clear plan of how to restructure the forward line after losing Amiss early.

Poor old Fyfey tried so hard tonight, but he hasn't played in a winning derby since Round 3, 2015.
