Hawkins should be aa captain, deserves just as much as last time

Hawkins as AA captain was almost unanimous....and this was voted on by people on the selection panel who have no love for Geelong or Geelong players. Many of them would have had their hearts broken by Cats sides.

Maybe just maybe your views on players have no merit on AA selection criteria compared to people who actually played/coached/study the game for a living?

The guy you’re arguing with was held underwater at birth.

He thinks port were robbed by the umpires in the 2007 grand final and even after winning three flags and getting the cats monkey off the Richmond back well and truly with three dominant finals wins he still carts a voodoo doll of Hawkins around everywhere he goes complete with his all Australian blazer.

He carries one of Tom Stewart as well that he’s given an extra AA to in honour of Blaisee’s well known inability to add up Stewart’s awards

Holmes, Dempsey and Bruhn in the under 22 squad. Humphries would've been if we'd bitten the bullet on using him in the 1's from early in the season.

Of course we can thank various athletics and basketball departments for developing the first two. Then GWS for Bruhn (despite being a peripheral flanker doing nothing there) and some WA club for Humphries.

If we had played Humphries round 1 onwards he'd probably podium in the rising star

And it was only because the senior players carried all of them....

9 games in season 1 and got more rising star votes than every single player on a tanking team like the Tigers list, honestly feel blessed to follow a club so good at developing players

The goalpost moving about to start in this thread will be epic..... if they even turn up of course lmao.

Of course there will be multiple RS winners after all these rd 1 picks they will have they will say....

But just imagine the shame if we get a Rookie Pick 15 developed into a RS winner and they cant from top end Rd 1 picks...

the shame.... the shame....

Congrats to Dempsey he’s had a good year but 3rd season and 21yo (will be 22 in Jan!) ……. if he was a wine the maturing process has well and truely started!

I’d take it a step further and say he’s well and truly over the hill. Hopefully he has 1 more good year before retirement.
Just trying to highlight that players close to 22yo in their 3’rd season should not be eligible for the rising star award. As I said congrats to Dempsey on a good year good player but the award is a joke ….. Darcy Wilson’s year much more impressive considering he was 18yo up until round 23!

How many Rising Star winners were from the rookie draft?
I reckon Ollie is the second ever (Danyle Pearce the first)

For all the handwringing about a 21 year old winning it, you look back at the list of players who have won and they are almost exclusively first year players and nearly all of them top 10 picks

It's been 11 years since a 3rd year player won it. If it's an advantage then why doesn't it ever happen?
