Richmond 8-2
Casey 8-2
GEELONG 8-3
Essendon 7-3
Box Hill 6-4

We’re the only one to have played so far. Richmond play Box Hill and Casey plays Essendon. Good win that guarantees that bankers gain/extend on at least two around us.

Good win by the lads.

Gardiner 3 goals, Menz and Buzz with two each.

Atkins was crucial late, winning a lot of in and under ball.

Disposals up to 3QT: Keras had 29 (this guy was killing it), Thurlow 23, Kiel 17, Scooter 15, Jones 14, O'Connor 14.

Werribee came very strong at the end to get within 4, but Atkins got a late goal to spread that out. We then got goals through Abbott and Gardener,
to even out their goals too.

So next week on Scotts calculations Menzel, Thurlow, Keras?? and Buzza will be in next week.

Jones had 14 in the first half, very busy, then went almost unsighted in the Twitter feed. Wondering if he spent bulk time on the bench - preparing to come in Thursday night.

That’s what I’m wondering given it seems no one was in the mood to go watch.
Suspect Scooter spent time in the first half on the pine too.

If someone confirms player a, b, c were managed for game time then lock them all in for Thursday.

I would put money on it that Scooter will be in. Menz, I think it would be hard to put him straight back in, but he's wasted in the magoos.
Keras is a VFL player only, so won't play other than VFL.

I'd prefer Thurlow over Kolo at the moment just for structure. We are too heavy down back and are surviving on Blitz's ability to cover ground and that Stewart is having a year to remember.
I'd also prefer Buzz to play, second ruck and forward to rest (or bench of course if Menz is on ground).

So yeah, could see up to 3-4 guys come in this week.

Jones in for Fogarty just seems inevitable this week.

Someone’s got to come in for parsons.

Hopefully we see

Out - parsons, Fogarty, Cunico
In - jones, Selwood, Menzel

Menzel is wasted in the 2’s. And let’s be really honest. Thurlow can tear it up all year long in the vfl. He’s been stamped, same as GHS. They’re vfl players. Sad but it happens.

I'd like to see Cunico stay in for Murda but I'm otherwise on board.

Think you're right about Thurlow, sadly. Just doesn't seem to fit into Scott's plans anymore.

Thing about Thurlow is he just doesn’t hurt sides. He turns it over, he’s not quick. He doesn’t lock down like Bews does. I fail to see what he actually brings.

Thurlow had about 30 in vfl today used the ball very well and had a lot of poise, class above. Hit the packs hard as well. What I liked is he had a lot of close attention a tag all day... worked very hard, I seen a few Werribee players with the no.40 on their arms, so obviously on the back of his 43 odd touches the other day and he dropped one of the taggers in the middle of the ground behind play with a sharp one to the guts, bloke stayed down for couple minutes.

I don't want an argument but ne uses the ball heaps better than most. and your man Bews doesn't have to worry about using it as he just doesn't get it much. Totally different players. But I do agree Scotty has his papers stamped unfortunately

Thurlow is a great vfl player. He just can’t cut it when it steps up.

I think that's harsh if you compare his performances to the others over his last 8-10 games of AFL he well and truly cuts it... the harsh reality is some get more opportunities than others and are judged differently. Z Guthrie. Parsons. Murdoch. Fogarty Kolo Bews Cunico. If Thurlow had poor games like them over the last 2-3 weeks he would be the first dropped? The listed ones get multiple opportunities after poor games without getting dropped.

Just Opinions - but I don’t think he’s any good. Couldn’t care less that he gets it 30 times when he butchers it and makes shit decisions. He’s a shit truck

He's not alone.

Gregson has been dropped and done well. AFL team...
Parsons racked up 52 touches in two games. AFL team...
GHS absolutely dominates this level. AFL team...
McCarthy, Cockatoo...

You can extend it to a few on the list and bar Thurlow and GHS most are F50 players.
I'm starting to think the players themselves may be just part of the problem. We don't play to the strengths of players in this role or we don't adequately teach them how to play it.
