Always love an 85 point win but wish I'd turned off the TV commentary, nearly ruined it for me.
Great to see Buzza and ZGuthrie get their first win.
Parsons has won me over. I was sceptical at first and didn't see what the fuss was about. I'm a convert.
Murdoch has been massive since the Bulldogs game when he showed his tough tackling style. I saw Chris Scott make a beeline to him after that game. I imagine he said that's how he wanted him to play and we've seen it consistently since.
Motlop looked 'lazy' on TV and then I see on the stats he has the second most repeat efforts!
Staggered by the Cam Guthrie hate. Bews has won the back pocket spot. Guthrie goes forward to put pressure on which he has done well the past two games.
If Guthrie is our bottom 6, which he might be, that's a good problem for us.

Good win. Could have actulally won by many more goals but am pleased. Joel needed the run- will be just right for the Hawks. Paddy -what a footballer. Liking the continuing development of Murdoch. Very good backline. Go Tom Lonergan-a wonder. Go Mitch.

A couple of initial thoughts:

Murdoch has really re-invented himself with his awesome tackling pressure. It seems like it's also given him confidence to take the game on more when in possession of the footy too. Best couple of months of his career.

Great to have Parfitt back in the side too. Moves like a young Dal Santo to the eye. A little quiet this week, which is to be expected after a long lay-off, but what a bright future this kid is going to have!

Buzza needs to stay in. Offers a similar amount to Harry up forward but with the added bonus of being able to play Harry back. Playing an AA CHB in the backline, what a novel idea!

The defence has looked so much more assured with Taylor back there, but I think a lot of that has to do with the form of Bews the last few games. We're starting to strike that balance where we have strength in the air, strength on the ground, and a little bit of mongrel on the side. Can't wait for Stewart to come back in on that last point.

All in all, nice to see us put a side to the sword again.

Haven't watched it at all yet have been out.

Very excited to watch the replay tomorrow sometime!

Sounded like a good 4-quarter effort + Parfitt's back!

Also next week we should get Menzel, Scooter & Cockatoo all back!

Thought Buzza was an absolute liability tonight and will be lucky to keep his spot if Menzel returns.

Really.....well didn't see it like that at all.

He may go if Menzel returns, but showed enough tonight to be optimistic about his future.

According to the commentators, tonight's match was Zoeko & Hipwood versus Geelong
It wasn't really just according to the commentators

And I think Hipwood is fortunate to be mentioned, it was absolutely Us V Zorko, and he was fantastic for them to his credit

Good result
Parsons im lovin right now. Cam Guthrie has two more chances to prove he is best 22. Stanley or Buzza need to be dropped, im inclined to prefer the latter. Zuthrie should find form, while Cocky, should rest for Adelaide - we need him in September. Maybe rest Mackie too as we need Gardner to be exposed to AFL soon while he is in good form. So id go with

Ins: Gardner, Menzel, Scooter
Outs: Stanley, Mackie, Zuthrie

He had 9 disposials and was goalless in a team that scored 163.. Pretty poor game.
but the stats sheet also does not show the 2 goal assists he got by crashing packs creating a contest and then dishing another off the create an easy shot for goal.

while he didnt score, he did the team thing and played smart footy for a 2nd gamer.

No Brownlow votes no - but votes for the future yes.

Go Catters

'Worst 14 goal win ever' is a bit much but a game where neither team hits 70 tackles is the opposite of how finals will be played so it's pretty meaningless as to an indicator of our likelihood of success in finals, take the 4 points and move on.

TBH I was disappointed in some of our pressure and how open we let the game be tonight, the Lions had a lot of space in our front half and it's only through their poor footskills that we didn't get scored against more, against top teams give them that space and we will get hurt. Given the lack of closing speed in our defence (bar Bews) I would much rather we played that high press throwing big numbers in our front half (like we did the last few weeks) as it forces shallower entries into our F50 which our defenders who are good at marking will pick off more often and it denies the space through the middle to hit leads where our closing speed can be exposed. We are much more likely to win the flag this year playing that style than the one we played tonight, even if with it the space in our attacking half will be less.

What I did like tonight was that some of the lesser players in Parsons and Parfitt (great to have him back) and Kolo contributed really well and even Buzza was serviceable. Good signs there but in terms of the game I don't take much out of it.

Thought Buzza was an absolute liability tonight and will be lucky to keep his spot if Menzel returns.

A tall will definitely go out for Menzel (we can't keep playing this many talls every week) so it's going to be either Buzza or Stanley (Kolo is the other option but I think that's less likely).

I still haven't overcome my reservations about Kolo....he does some very ordinary things during games....

Still think his spot in the team up for grabs when Stewart is back. Could be sooner rather than later too.
Great with Stewart, Cocky, Menzel, Scooter, Thurlow and McCarthy vying for spots though.
Looking all fine for September.
Did I miss anyone??
Let's get passed the Hawks next week and be ready for a mighty Crows battle
