I give us a big chance, RD17 we were beaten by 26 points but came off a 5 day break with Richmond having a a 12 day break, changes for us from that game
OUT Atkins,Ratugolea,Fogarty,Close and Jarvis.
IN's Rohan,Simpson,Stanley,Selwood and Ablett.

Just a few good ins then...

At least there won't be 85,000 ferals influencing the call.

Just wait til Gil decides they need to shift the game to the Richmond-preferred Metricon for "reasons"
I think there will be a much stronger Richmond presence regardless.

I went to both the cats/port and Richmond/port fish's this year and there were maybe 4-5 full bays of tigers fans at the prelim, maybe 1 bay of cats fans? Random Tigers fans in maybe every second or third row versus me and one other cats fan in our entire bay.

It'll be better than the mcg but still not ideal

How good is it to wake up on a Sunday morning after the prelim final and know that we still have another match this season
It’s brilliant. The most exciting thing for me is the way we won. Never gave them an inch. We absolutely belted them.
We seem to have recaptured our earlier form that was blistering.

In 2007, Geelong saved football after the previous couple of seasons were marred by teams who play, as good ol' Jim Ross of WWE and now AEW would say, "bowling shoe ugly" football winning premierships.

Here's hoping history repeats 13 years later.

Best part for me was the attitude even with the game won and a GF to play next up the Cats players keep their heads over the ball right to the final siren, there was no cue in the rack this mob is up for the challenge.

Richmond have smaller Backs + have implemented attacking structures with small Defenders playing a huge role in nullifying their opposition Forwards. They focus on not only stopping their opposition from scoring, but attacking. Oppo teams had some success in swamping the Defensive side of the ball, preventing them from scoring, still, their Defence maintained most of their attacking pressure.

Stoppage clearance + centre clearance differentials per game: 2020
Geelong 2
Richmond -1

Contested possession differential per game: 2020
Geelong 10.4
Richmond -2.6

Differential in retained marks (non-intercepted marks) in wins and losses: 2020
Geelong 17
Richmond -9

We excel at taking possession of the ball + are even better at keeping possession of the ball.

In the last two games, we have played as a cohesive, well oiled machine! Every one, well nearly every player contributed + supported one other. If a Handball or Kick went astray, there was a player to back up the misses. We were able to answer + exceed everything Lions threw at us last night. Rayner’s booming goal, Ablett waltzed through a Centre Bounce Stoppage + kicked a 55m Goal. At the beginning of Q3, when the game was in the balance, Henry went Forward + drilled a Goal.

The difference this Season is that Geelong is no longer buckling when the Oppo team applies pressure. This year, we’ve had the confidence, composure + capability to challenge pressure + turn games to our advantage. This is where we need to surpass Richmond + beat them at their own game.

We will need to kick accurately on Saturday, 11 Behinds last night was poor. Kicking 2.5 in Q1. Rohan hit form with three Goals + needs to perform that well again in the GF. I’m hoping Hawkins repeats his 2011 GF performance. Dangerfield needs to pass off set shots + stick to his more accurate snap shots. Goals from Ablett, Dalhaus, my boy Miers + Parfitt are needed. I think Miers needs some patience, seems to be in the second year doldrums. He’s kicked 18 Goals in 20 Games this Season. Dalhaus only kicked seven Goals in 15 Games this year + needs to perform.

Duncan, Menegola, Stewart, Dangerfield, Cuthrie, Selwood + Tuohy made terrific contributions. Henderson is having his best year at the Cats.

One concern is the Grand Final is a huge step up from any Finals games. Will our boys rise to the challenge of GF intensity? Our players need to adopt the unrelenting determination of Richmond. Their ruthless, win at any cost attitude. To do anything + everything to get the advantage over the opposition. Geelong needs to be invincible! This is all part of beating Richmond at their own game. But it doesn’t mean stooping to level of Lynch’s dirty tactics. Richmond relish the GF stage + have three wins worth of experience.

As Dean Bilton wrote:
Richmond's full-throttle motion against Geelong's mastery of pace. Richmond's art against Geelong's science. Richmond's fury against Geelong's finesse.

Doesn’t my boy Miers love Hawkins? 😻

There doesn't seem to be a whole lotta respect for our club, and its chances in the GF, on the Tiger's board
Who cares? Let them be arrogant + full of bravado. Let them be bragging + boasting.

We will be our usual gracious selves.

It’s good to be the underdog, fly under the radar + hopefully, our footy will do the talking.

Must admit though, the thought of losing + giving the Tuggers a back to back makes me bilious 🤢🤢🤮

Did anybody see or record the vision of the Guthrie brothers in the rooms post match last night. Tear-jerking. Cam was sitting with his head down, sobbing (?with relief, exhaustion) and Zac was supporting him. I know how much this means to us, but the players have been through so much this year- what this means to them to get there and hopefully win it is beyond description.

♥️♥️♥️

Definitely an advantage not playing at their home ground, also haven’t had to travel this week, and their game looked tougher in wet conditions, all adds up to us having a huge chance.

The big thing for me is that Grimes played on Jarvis and knew he could help double/ triple team Hawkins.
With Rohan and Ablett back our forward line is 3x more dangerous.
We will win.

Short answer no,long answer I'm the exact opposite you can't wipe the smile of my dial.
PS that's my last word on the subject here back to the topic GF preview.
I was in floods of tears last night + this morning, but floods of happy tears
