GEELONG vs COLLINGWOOD (1st PRELIMINARY FINAL)

The arrogance of most Geelong supporters astounds me. The best thing for us was you guys obliterating the Kangas last week, as you all seem to think that the job is done and it's all over.

Underestimate us at your peril, most people thought last years game was going to be a cracker betweeen these two teams and we only just scraped home by 100+ points. Yes you beat us earlier this year, but the two teams have essentially the same personnel as last year also.

If we keep the game close, the pressure will mount on the team that is the overwhelming favourite. If you learnt nothing from the Port Adelaide loss a few weeks ago, you will deserve to go down again.

Prepare for a fight.

Just off the top of my head, North, Essendon, Collingwood, Adelaide all took it up to the Cats and failed.

The reason so many games have been so one sided, as has already been pointed out but still seems to be overlooked by many, is that Geelong simply didn't give the opposition a chance to get into the game.

Arrogance from a small number of supporters that's true but most are pretty conservative actually.

What happened during the season has no bearing on tomorrow night, now that the finals have started it's an entirely new ball game, which also means dredging up last years result is completely pointless, think most would agree that the Cats are a "slightly" better outfit this year, and don't think for one second that the players, and they're the only ones who count, are going to be taking this game lightly.

The arrogance of most Geelong supporters astounds me.

The hypocritical Collingwood supporters astound me.

You are just as cocky as Geelong supporters so deal with it and move on.

The players neither care nor read what is said on Big Footy and it effects their perfomance on the weekend by 0%

How the nerves everyone !?.......starting to settle now !! Looking forward to it, the game will be closer than most ardent - one eyed -parocial supporters believe.
If it's a close game we cats better steel ourselves for combative collingwood side, make no mistake we deserve to be where we are but the wobbles form this past month or so gives them great confidence going into a game if it's close and within arms reach of them.Where we'll be tested is if collingwood try to jump us early and get a good break or there within a bee's dick of us at 3 qtr time.
A nailbiting win against the pies i believe will do us better going into a gf than if we thump them, the only 'clinker' we lost was to port (you'd think they wouldve learnt from that).
To say we have'nt been challenged is also wrong, the crows challenged us twice and we responded and one of those wins against adelaide (in adl) was probably our best win for the season.....oh the pies also challenged us, but what do you make of that - when both coaches said there teams did'nt play well !?
After the hoopla of the AA awards and then the sad passing of Len Thompson it was good to see the cats & bomber coming out last night and saying where ready. If where ready i've got no doubt that everything will take care of itself come friday night and a win will be well earnt.

KissStephanie....while you have some interesting points....
Thanks for noticing.
CATS WILL WIN THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!!!
Yet another Geelong supporter that says Collingwood are going to lose? I'm so shocked! Come on now, I'm aware that Geelong are the hottest favourites in recent finals memory, and have nine to zero All-Australians, and have had a week off while Collingwood had a gruelling extra time final in Perth, and finished five matches and five positions ahead on the ladder.

People, particularly Geelong supporters, have been claiming that not only will Geelong make the Grand Final, but will win the premiership for months now. Even the Geelong mayor was talking about plans for Grand Final day, and a premiership parade after they had just beaten North Melbourne in the Qualifying Final. Maybe he's not the only one that has been a little ahead of himself.

Geelong have had this match won for so long now though that it won't be devastating if Collingwood loses of course. Disappointed for a short time of course, but there is not a single realistic Collingwood supporter that expects to win on Friday night. Confident that Collingwood will give it a real crack, and hopeful of a huge upset, but nothing more than that. If the Magpies do win the 'unwinnable' match though, it would be incredible because it is not expected.
Can you imagine getting in an argument with her lol... Run for the hills is my advice, she would bore you to death with her dribble
Clearly you have nothing to say, or have any significant input to make, so you're on ignore since you'd rather attempt to personally insult than discuss the topic.
Len Thompson's passing is not neccessarily a positive in any way for a collingwood player.
Of course it's not a positive when one of Collingwood's best player's of all time has just passed away. Len Thompson won the the 1972 Brownlow medal and he won a record of the time five Copeland Trophy's in a strong team which has only been broken by Nathan Buckley's six Copeland Trophy's.
Of course i mean in terms of motivation, it is terrible when anyone dies. Anyone familiar with Yerkson-dodson stress curves will know there is an optimum amount of stress to give the best performance level.
It's called the Yerkes-Dodson law, and it is only a theory. It is not a proven principal at all.
Added pressure for wanting to perform for Len might just push them past the optimum level of stress.
Completely unlikely. The reason that Collingwood will be aiming to win on Friday is to play in the Grand Final. If at times when the going gets tough, a player may look down and see "Len Thompson" or "zero All-Australians" written on their arm, then it can only help in my opinion. Collingwood are a very professional club, and I trust them to manage outside motivations in a way that it will benefit the team, and not harm their chances at all.
I know my self in under 12 or under 13s in the week of the grandfinal our manager passed away. We went to the funeral on the day of the game. it was simply to much we could hardly do anything right.
That is not even slightly comparable. Firstly, Len Thompson's funeral is next week and not on Friday, and secondly, very few of the players knew him personally. They know of his legacy, and the champion player that he was of course, and I'm sure they will attempt to honour him positively.
Obviously Collingwood are more professional than under 12s
Of course they are.
but calls of "do it for Len' do not always help a player perform.
I haven't heard any calls of "do it for Thommo." If you have any source of this being said at Collingwood, then I'd like to read it. The most I've heard is when Scott Pendlebury said that the players may give a bit of extra grunt, but he did not say that Collingwood "will be doing it for Thommo."

Some great Magpies of the past have passed away during the off season, such as Gordon and Syd Coventry, Albert Collier and Jock McHale. However, Bob Rose, Harry Collier, Phonse Kyne, and Jack Regan all passed away during a season, and Collingwood were able to win the following week after all of them.
The hypocritical Collingwood supporters astound me. You are just as cocky as Geelong supporters so deal with it and move on.
Ba ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Good one! It's beaut to have a laugh. Quite healthy too, so thanks for that! :)

Geelong have had this match won for months now, and there is not a single realistic Collingwood supporter that expects to win on Friday night. Confident of a good effort, and hopeful of a win, but nothing more.

Ablett Jr has tweaked the hammy at training yesterday

if this is true:eek:, you guys could be in for some more fun tomorrow night than you were expecting :D.

You can tell when they are really Scared my fellow pussy-cat fans.

They start with the Gaz Jnr injury rumors, see above.

Fear. Fear and more fear. It is rife from the Pie fans and Pie players.

I am as confident as I have ever been before a game, normally I am nervous. Collingwood beat the Eagles last week without their 3 superstar midfielders ans the important Hansen playing 1 qtr. The extra time will have taken it out of them as well. Plus the fact we are a much better side. Expect them to stick within about 3 goals at 3 qtr time, then for us to run away with a 7-8 goal win.
GO CATS!!!!

I actually give PUSSIES_07_FLAG credit... he rego'd that name in May 2007 which is a massive call considering no experts tipped us in the top 8. I think he deserves to blow Geelongs horn, if we had a shit season he would have egg on his face.

I hope collingwood wins but if that game is that close i will die of stress.

Anyway colingwood by 7
collingwood have 2 chances 1. none 2. wears the no 5

PRE-BREAKING NEWS>

RSPCA told to rush to the MCG, reports of 22 mad Magpies swooping 22 pretty little pussy cats.

Cats lovers all around the world are up in arms over the live TV coverage of such a shocking sight, the TV coverage shows blood and guts left behind everwhere at this great sporting ground know as the "G".

Reports went on to say the last time something like this happened was back in 92 & 94 but then it was eagles attacking the pussy cats.

:D :D :D :D

if ou midfield and b graders as no one from geelong rates thomas, pendelbury, didak, davis and co could beat sydney and west coast clearnce specialist teams (dont give me any shit about Cu\ousins, Judd, kerr stenglen, priddis selwood are first line midfielders anywhere else)

You've got to be joking if you think west coast would have been the same team over the last few years without those three. It's like saying you beat Australia's pace attack without Brett lee and Glenn McGrath. You beat a second rate lineup.

Also do you honestly think "no one from Geelong" rates those players. i can hear Mark Thompson now "These players are no good don't worry about them."

will mooney crack the shits?,
will steve johnson get goal hungry?,
what does ablett do when his tagger runs him into the ground and gets as much of the ball?

1)- He has yet to do so this year, why would he start now when victory is so close.
2)- No. He still has a massive debt to the players around him for their faith in him. He is looking to repay them at every opportunity. He knows his place in the team and will play it to a tee.
3)- Why do you think Gary has had such a great year? Because he has increased his work rate and learnt to break tags. He's always been copping that much attention, it comes with the name but now he knows how to deal with it. He's had more than his share of attention this year and amassed 617 disposals. Even against Port a game when he was very well tagged he still managed over 25+ and some magic near the end. It is going to take more than one player to stop him, I don't think you can argue that on current form. This opens the door for Corey, Bartel, Enright, Kelly, Selwood, Rooke and Chapman to capitalise.

Just because the internet gives you a place to say the first thing that pops into your head, doesn't mean you should.
