Seeing as I started this, it’s Daicos for me, followed by Pendlebury. The list doesn’t extend beyond two. Actually, maybe it does. Heath Scotland at three!

And I won’t entertain any such discussion re * players

I think Peter Daicos is the best Pies player I ever saw, yet I still believe Buckley was slightly better overall than Pendlebury.

Bucks was a model of consistency even if some bog ordinary/average Collingwood teams in the 90s.

Heath Scotland for mine

But what they say about Pendlebury's basketball background is seriously understated. Had he not truly loved Aussie Rules more than basketball he could've made it as far or further there than Patty Mills.

When I was still working in basketball there was at least one organisation US side who had him ranked in the top 25-30 prospects in his draft class (first round level prospect). He was well aware of this fact. But opted to follow his passion instead of chasing the money.

In professional sport often the difference between really making it or not can boil down to how passionate and in love with what you're doing. His AFL career speaks for itself as to having made the right decision

Wait he played basketball?

You’d think that would have come up

one of the gentle giants and a brownlow winner.........saw him drinking a pot of beer once at the casa de manana pub in south melbourne (case of bananas) the glass looked like a thimble in his fist, huge man - great tap ruckman, vale and rip big man........
