Darcy Moore appointed Filth Captain ...

Not sold on this move by the Pies. He's an absolute gun player and probably a terrific leader but his injury history is significant. He played 24 games last year (played many apparently hurting badly) but before then his previous 4 seasons saw him on the sidelines for at least a month of the season

I prefer my captain's to be rocksteady and consistently able to perform.

Gill:-

“I am not here today to confirm Colin’s thesis … but nor am I here to dispute his conclusions,” McLachlan said at the launch.

“That’s for our historians, our clubs to examine closely and no doubt expand the debate.”

It makes total sense for 'former commissioner and Geelong President Colin Carter' to see his beloved Cats jump from 10 to 17 flags!
happy for them to sit at 17 if we are sitting at 22..........

if we accept the pre-VFL flags then we probably need to accept Port Magpies 34 odd flags before Power entered the AFL.

The pre-VFL flags (ie: prior to 1897) refer to flags won in the VFA from 1877 to 1896, which was the pre-eminent football competition at that time, all historians would agree that, there was a Melbourne based football competition at the time running to 1876 which was administered by the club secretaries of the senior clubs which again all historians recognise as the pre-eminent football competition at the time.

The flags won by Port Adelaide in the SANFL do not count under that criteria

absolute wet lettuce response there, I'd be ashamed if that was us.

It just highlights the stark differences between our clubs and what we stand for.

One has a strong moral conviction when it comes to violence/human rights abuses against women, so much so that we turned down appointing Ross Lyon due to his behaviour while at Fremantle.

The other releases statements advising of "serious and confronting allegations against Tarryn Thomas" and "We take any allegation of threats of violence against women extremely seriously. Respect of all people is fundamental to our club values", so much so that they "acknowledges the impact people will be feeling across the community by reading the media today".

What they conveniently forgot to include in their release was: "oh but we are seriously starved for talent ... so he's going to do some behavioural training while still being paid and available for selection every week".

This is Fevola/Carlton under the Pagan era.

Tbf, it isn’t the same thing, is it? Fev only annoyed the captain at the Brownlow medal. Unless I have totally forgotten about other shittier behaviour from him.

I was referring more to the fact that at the time we also sucked and needed to retain our top line talent - so never really punished/stood down/suspended Fev after all of his drunken escapades and gambling etc. until years later.

We swept it under the rug of "behavioural training" because we needed to win games and he was the face of our franchise.

You're right in that Fev's known antics aren't similar to the serious allegations against Taryn. This makes the matter worse for North IMO.

Thank you mate! I knew you weren’t making a comparison but had to also ask. :)

You may have forgotten a few things like theft from a dry cleaner, crown incident, getting sent home from Ireland and urinating on a shop window.

To be fair they were all about him being a boofhead rather than bad behaviour to women etc. But Fev definitely couldn't complain that he didnt get plenty of chances or warnings.
