Hird was up to his neck in 'the financials' aka trying to make money off aod964 using the players as test subjects. this is a huge issue from a duty of care and ethics standpoint, not to mention actually quite illegal to conduct unlicenced, unregulated medical testing, especially if the players didn't know*
on top of that Hird was one who used charters' services to return from a career ending injury, along with luke darcy and scott west (edit simon garlic, nathan brown and heaps more). charter, who has recently been arrested again was also woewodin's 'nutritional advisor' in the year he won the brownlow, his only good year. Hird wrote him a reference when he was arrested on commercial drug trafficking charges - before the Essendon thing.
