He was actually quite good at that early last season, it's being outbodied this season that has ****** him. Not surprised to hear he was another who missed most of the pre-season.

Link here for anyone who want to read it:

I didn't actually know he had post-season surgery, I did a quick count off the top of my head of all of the players who, as far as I knew, have made it through the season and preseason without any interruptions ... I'll now change that figure to 6.

From Michael Walters tribunal hearing re headbutt to Jay Lockhart:

"Medical report from Melbourne's doctor says there was no immediate treatment required, no further investigation, no ongoing treatment, no expected matches to be missed."

Take note other clubs. This is how an honourable club operates. Respect to the melbourne doctor and organisation for being HONEST and GENTLEMANLY.

Now let's imagine the same incident except a carlton player was headbutted:

"Medical report from carltons's doctor says there was immediate treatment required to stop torrential blood flow, further investigation found tongue had been ripped out, ongoing treatment to reattach head to body, all expected matches and rest of life to be missed."

There was whispers a couple of years ago that there was a few clubs unhappy with the medical reports coming out of Carlton during tribunal hearings.

Michael Walters should have been reported for one if his many dives before headbutting.

My fur coat. Why have staging rules at all if they're not going to be applied with blatant and repeat offenders?

He probably should be, but he’s the man of the moment media-wise at present.

His form is great and he’s great to watch at the moment because he is top of his form. But I think if I had a choice I would prefer to carve out a reputation on merit alone. He’s acting like a bad sport nasty little worm on most occasions these days. If he wants that as his legacy, whatever. Just don’t think for a moment your AFL playing colleagues haven’t noticed it, or indeed 75 percent of the viewing public.

Jordan Lewis gave him a little clip aswell. He said well done to Lockhart 'for actually staying on his feet' in a pretty sarcastic tone
Loved that.

Also, I don’t think he is saying that because he is a melbourne player. All AFL players will have pegged him as a stager by now. So he gets some frees, we’ll done Michael, but I doubt his crap is held in regard across the AFL playing community.

You can tell that Lewy can see the finish line on his playing career now so he can afford to speak his own mind a bit more freely.

He’s great in the media now isn’t he? Mind you, I think he was pretty good before but I didn’t listen much because back then he was some Hawks flog

Bottom 5 teams in games played on the weekend:
  • 14: Western Bulldogs 82
  • 15: Melbourne, 76
  • 16: Sydney, 74
  • 17: Gold Coast, 73
  • 18: St Kilda, 67
North had 98 games, Brisbane 101 - hell, even Carlton had an average of 93.

Geelong, Collingwood and West Coast are averaging 110+ - on average, that’s two or more full seasons of experience per player.

It's just context for us. We all expected more given how we went last year, but some of our brightest players - notably in our midfield - are still around 70-80 games.

And when Lewis, and then Jones finish, it will change a lot more, on a consistent basis. This is why IMO, our lack of maturity at Casey hurts us when we get injured players.
We have built a solid club foundation of contested footy. Time for the next phase. To start injecting more run and polish onto that base.

Topkent alert - I'm pretty certain run and polish is "speed and class"

It feels so odd that it's past the half way point of the season and we haven't yet set foot in docklands
I emailed the club before the season started asking them to refund me $75 and downgrade my membership from H&A to just Home and I have no regrets. Literally zero desire to go to that dump esp this year.

That stat is a little misleading
We have Fritta Hibberd Lockhart Hannan who were mature age players.

I actually liked the way we moved the ball in the first half. We're definitely trying to spot up more kicks and control the tempo of the game by foot.

In the 3rd our pressure just dropped away completely, our defense ended up crumbling under the weight of supply with Hipwood going ballistic and then we barely fired a shot in the last. Against Freo too I thought our ball use was a little bit more methodical. Honestly, we should still beat Carlton comfortably but I just don't even know anymore.

I loved us giving the ball to May and watching him spot up kicks coming out of defence, he's a lovely kick of the footy. For the rest of the year I just want us to use the footy better and get more reward for effort - kick some easy goals through smart play.

Its funny that we got belted in our biggest strength but I agree our ball movement was actually alright in the first half. Geez the midfield should be having a good hard look in the mirror though, that is the worst I've seen them play under Goodwin.

Nathan Jones said on radio that Steven May is the loudest and most direct leadership voice that he's ever had with him at Melbourne.
What did people think of the May Frost discussion? I thought it was brilliant leadership, being a leader is having those hard talks we haven't seen anything like that at Melbourne in years

I applauded when I saw that on tv. There should be a hell of a lot more of it.

But it begs the question - why hasn't Jones been that leader? Why hasn't Viney? Why hasn't Gawn or TMac?
