Longer is finished due to concussions.
Grundy wont come here and would cost too much.
I think Goldstein will stay at North but is worth a look (FA). Id maybe take Ryder or Jacobs but only for a year and i think they would want longer deals to move interstate.
Id still push for Darcy if Kelly likes Freo.
Outside of that to cheap options I like Smith who is back in the queue at Brisbane but has talent or Hayes or Frampton at Port.
As a pure Ruck, Darcy is the best option of those younger latter ones you mention...

I'm afraid I don't think we will get a 2nd Round pick for a player who only played 1 game this season... A 3rd at best? This is my opinion thou, I'd be gladly to be wrong.
He will be literally be worth nothing... if we can find a club that will give us an R2 for Hendo then I have no doubt the club pay for the taxi and even the plane ticket if required..

Hindsight i know but i wouls keep based on last nights effort

I guess some people still don't understand Free Agency.... and the way it works... Never mind...

He wont pick us as an FA next year and Pies would match and force a trade anyway.

Actually it's after next season PO... He will then be a Free Agent being able to walk wherever he pleases.
If rumours are correct he is asking for 1.2 a year. So 6 years @ 7.2million.
Which would be close to Danger Selwood Hawk ($900k??) money albeit with a GST of 10% added so to speak.
Well maybe closer to 15% 😜.

We should keep because his age makes him a token pick only in a trade.

I agree he is worth little... probably worth looking at the pick now ..and what he cost , how many games he has played for us ..was it value etc.. and I have no doubt he gets some sort of contract offer.

I have no issue with LH playing that role..we know he can do it .... but him and Harry and Blitz ... is 3 into 2 spots most of the time. That game was poles from playing a high velocity game... lets see what happens this week , lets see what a game at the G looks like.

My point is not what he is able to do ..just about transitioning in younger players. If for some reason Harry says I have had enough... or he gets an offer from Gold Coast to do a Hodge... the Henderson is a perfect elderman in the backline and he gets a better offer for a couple of years. The whole situation probably didnt become clear for me.... I cant see us being ruthless and cutting Harry.

The thing that I did think last night .. is we need to get serious about the ruck role. Its ridiculous that we have 3 or 4 fit rucks on our list ... and we choose to play Blitz in the role. ...

If Scott wants more mobile impact then go and get Ryder for a couple of year ..probably only cost a later pick ...
... and then look to draft in Jackson. If Blitz can do the role ..the Jackson be groomed to do it

Its end 2020 im aware.
Hes an RFA they can match to force a trade for better picks and they will imo.

Seeing Henderson’s name coming up here. Not much logic to that. He’s close to the end but as we’ve seen the last two weeks still playing good footy. He is very settled on the surf coast and I’d be very surprised if he plays elsewhere. More likely he continues to play a similar role to that he has played this year with plenty of VFL time. Don’t think he’d be too unhappy with that.

Herald Sun running with Higgins to the Cats, thoughts peeps?
Class player for sure, and probably the type we need (outside spreader who uses it very well and hits the scoreboard), but he'll be 32 by the start of next season...
Why bother at that age. Woftam.

Only exception was the goat, cause he is the goat.

If Jack Steven is too old, then what does that make Higgins?

I doubt the club see Steven as too old.. they just look at the way he is playing today .. and say age is only one parameter to measure by...

So if we lose Kelly ..and gain Higgins and Steven ... we gain an older side ..but for a year or two.. we main gain and thicker midfield

It was like when we first got Henderson and then tried to play him in the backline with Lonergan, Taylor, a developing Kolo, a floating Blicavs as well as Smith and Stanley in the ruck; IMO should have played him at CHF with Hawkins and it would have given us such a better structure, as opposed to trying to fit too many of basically the same player in.

Not up it. Look at the extra athleticism required to play that role ..he a solid mark but not with what forward has to cop.. its why we tried Taylor forward.
