I doubt the club see Steven as too old.. they just look at the way he is playing today .. and say age is only one parameter to measure by...

So if we lose Kelly ..and gain Higgins and Steven ... we gain an older side ..but for a year or two.. we main gain and thicker midfield
We could get them if kelly stays

No way joel goes. Besides, he is Jack Steven's mate.
He is also in reach of the all time captaincy record. He's playing two more with Jack.
The way Narkle played yesterday maybe GAJ has a replacement. What composure and goal kicking talent.
Do you feel we are in contention .. or do you think it depends on who we play.. can we win it? If we cant win it .I dont think we are in contention.. anyway..
Id not mind if you are right. id not mind a total a lot action ..I just have my doubts about it happening any time soon.. we are on top of the ladder .. I cant see we come to the end of the season ..and CS says.. rebuild required.

I dont see anything specific happening along these lines or other till CScott reaches the end of his tenure. Cs is signed to 2022... it would take two years of below exepect finishes perhaps in 2020 and 2021 for any change of a coach to happen early ... so while he is admin, he will continue to believe in the echo chamber of being "competitive" .. so we will continue to waft around near the top 9 of the 18 , we will continue to top up with the short term options and hopefully find a some half decent young players along the way. A couple of final wins this year will probably only confirm that any criticism was superficial and simplistic.

1, If we do win .. yes possible that those players go. No matter if we win a flag or not I suspect that if we can get a certain best 22 player thats 30.. that might give us 50 games we will still look at him to replace the players who go. If we lose GA and Sel and maybe someone we cant or do not expect yet .. It will not surprise me that we look at Steven or Higgins.

2, If we go out in straight sets .. I don't see much difference to be honest.

Constable should get a game on form but his position is not what we, as a team, need right now.

If he (Chook) is serious, he needs to acknowledge that & work towards becoming the player that forces others out of the senior team because he can offer more than the player in that current position.
Imo he is already better than guthrie. Takes a hit, gets the hard ball and dishes to our runners making them more effective. Gets more of it too

Selwood is great mates with Jarry Geary - he may be friends or friendly with Steven but not sure if he (Steven) came to Geelong if it would have any impact on Joel & seeing out his contract

Next week may be very informative.
1 v 2, interstate, against a team in red hot form...
If we win that, we deserve and get top 1/2, home final guaranteed.
We then could play Tigers, WCE or Lions in Melbourne, and we will have the confidence of already having beaten each of those teams.
Yes, we would be worthy contenders.
Not that we are not worthy if Lions beat us. But far less confidence.

'Big man Braydon Preuss put on a rucking masterclass in the VFL on Sunday, winning an incredible 75 hitouts against Collingwood while also collecting 19 disposals.'
FMD. I'm assuming the cats had their reasons for passing on him (and didn't let him slide like McEvoy). If they didn't they should be enquiring with management right now. He's the perfect candidate for a mid-season trade.

TO CORRECT THE RECORD

1. Ablett confirmed that Bomber had no impact on his decision to leave Geelong
2. He changed his mind after signing a contract with the Suns, and considered reneging the deal. It is important to note the farce the believers perceive as reality being he only made his mind after the finals etc etc.

For the years of abuse i have copped over Ablett he has confirmed in his own words that he was going, and changed his mind. ANd bomber played no role in the decision.

AND THE NEW STUFF

If you cant stand a player get over it. Guthrie plays an important role in our team, and people need to be objective.

We are not trading a first or an early second for Stevens. He is messed up, and the Saints know it. They got Hanners at a discount for a reason. He will be a cat for a discount.

TKelly is not 65% staying, so i wouldnt be factoring all these picks that we might have.

Chook will not be traded.

Joel will not be retiring at years end.

Ablett wants to go around again.

Cockatoo is on the verge of signing a 1 year extension.

The Geelong board is becoming a joke. We are happy to develop players and then hand them over. Chook will be in his prime next year. Sparkle was told to work on deficiencies as they wanted him to play midfield time, and we cant have 10 unaccountable midfielders.

He’ll cost us a late 1st rounder, guaranteed. I’m not overly fussed as we’ll get another first for TK. Probably worth it if he gets his head right.

There is no way we give up a pick under 30 for a 30 year old, unfit and mental health issues.

Hamish McIntosh. Mitch Clark. Scooter.

Enough.

We need to focus on building our next mid post Selwood, danger and Kelly.

Right now there’s Parfitt Narkle and Constable. We need at least a couple more A grade young mids coming through.

Wasting good picks on risky old players for 1 or 2 years is not a good strategy.

M... im not sure which post reflects the whole board ..but few if any want to see Constable traded... but I guess like anyone there would be some who dont rate him.

Just to confirm ... TK is more likely to stay than go in your opinion ...

I agree.. , hope you are correct. Clark has shown the value of draft and we need to do that more.. but as the Ablett deal did show what pick we are prepared trade for old talented players.

Joel is contracted and wants to play on
Not disputing Selwood will play on & likely see out his contract

Just saying not sure Joel & Jack Steven are actually mates or great mates - maybe they have become friends or friendly through football, but not sure it's really going to worry Joel if the last 2-years of his contract are played with Steven as a teammate or not

Scooter was free

Chook takes over from GAJ when he calls it.

Fair to say you were held out by the GOAT.

Go Catters

My mail on TK says the same.
It's not concrete either way but it's more likely than not he'll be a Cat next year.
Apparently some of it comes down to the AFL approving a clause in any contract that the Cats will trade TK at any time should he request it.
But that mail is a touch old now.

Mid season trade..?
You beat me to it.
AFL is looking to bring in a mid-season trade next year. Would occur during the league-wide bye (next year there are no 6/6/6 byes).
Was saying that if we had it this year, he might've jumped ship mid year when it looked like he could have had the #1 ruck spot at a club in contention as opposed to getting 75 hit outs at VFL level at a club sitting 17th

With no disrespect, but your mail... Where does your mail come from?
