Just watched the two u/18 games on Fox in full watching Clark exclusively and gee wizz there wasn’t a great deal to get excited about. Actually some worrying signs. Maybe not worrying signs. He’s smart and tough would be the two things that stood out on the positive.

I’d say he is this years Hobbs for sure. I’d be outright staggered if the Hawks picked him when they already have Worpel, Newcombe, Ward, Long and Stephens. Absolutely no chance

Hobbs us very good but clark is better imo.

Any chance we use pick 8 and then trade our future 1st for another 1st rounder this year if a player we like is available.

We cant as we have traded other 2023 picks.

I'd be all over Sydney Stack if he could fit into our cap a classy player with heaps of upside I except he has had problems up to now but some times you need to back your leaders and systems to turn flawed diamonds around.
My biggest problem with Stack is I just dont think hes actually any good, Richmond arent exactly flying at the moment and he couldn't find a spot in the 22 and only averaged 15 touches and just over a goal a game in the twos.

Got a brother in law who is hardcore Richmond.

The other day he reeled off a bunch of things straight off the top of his head that Stack had done (and there was a.... stack lol).

He has a completely unprofessional attitude and is a very loose canon when given any wiggle room.

Stengle is a nice kid that just made some mistakes... I'm not sure it's the same deal with Stack.

P.S Stack's VFL form was average at best aswell... HARD PASS!

Suspect Stack my put his head down if he got delisted and had to play in the 2nds for peanuts. If he goes straight onto another list why would he change? Pass for me, see how he goes on his lonesome.

Hes got talent, but so does everyone on an afl list. Its not enough by itself

You could be right.
You'd have to change your name?

Hey mate,

This is fair, and is something we all should be doing, I agree.

I've gone back through my history and deleted all of my old posts relating to anything concerning Phillipou or discussions that are considered less than amicable re: draftees or other posters - to avoid any future conflict that could arise as a result of those posts...it's really not worth it.

I've been on here for 4 years myself and I generally don't get involved in any of this back and forth - and this whole thing has been exhausting personally. Most on here can attest my exchanges/posting are generally pretty easy-going, but this whole topic has been divisive and invited conflict - and I want no part of that anymore. I've ignored the poster in question which is what I should have done originally given our opposing views and subsequent negative effect on others here...but I let the board down by continuing the conflict rather than just letting it go/scaling back my own posting/reporting any grievances.

Doesn't matter anyway. It's done and we move on. I sincerely apologize to anyone I've pissed off on here, and I'll be more mindful in future to know when to step back/when to not engage.

Cheers,

Shadow

Played as a midfielder majority of his juniors and was All Australian and never got a look in there at senior level, tells me hes not fit enough and doesnt seem like the guy that's prepared to put in the hard work to get there, will be a club that saw that output and gives him another chance but I hope it isnt us.

If calling people out for attacking a kids character is the problem here then god knows what this place has become
From the time of your previous account you mean given you've been here a month?

Go Catters

Cant you guys just block each other? Getting pretty tiring reading your dribble every 2nd page of the thread.

Sigh...I literally deleted everything I posted and wrote an apology above despite being the one who has gotten attacked over this particular topic over and over again - despite being treated like shit/being made to feel like shit over and over again...and then being told to 'stop playing the victim' by an antagonistic poster that is an obvious alias account given their behaviour after only a month on the forum. I ignored the poster in question, and deleted any interactions with anyone concerning the topic over the past 15 pages - so it should all be wiped from the board now.

You know what, I'll be honest, this lovely post right here written directly after my apology post and calling what I've written 'drivel', is probably the final straw for me. I honestly think I'm done with this board and this site for good now.

I took a long break after losing my mother to cancer, losing myself a bit and genuinely thought I was gonna die from the stress of it all - and then came back as I saw this as a healthy medium to spend my time on and discuss that which is really a positive in my life- the Geelong Football Club.

I am sorry that I have disrupted people's experiences by defending myself, but I don't sit idly by when people take opportunities to have a go at me and label me as 'mean', as 'playing the victim' or just straight up attacking my character because of a disagreement on a particular topic that I'd already agreed an impasse had been reached pages and pages ago - I've been through too much to accept that.

No, I just get to keep getting attacked and having to accept it, because someone thinks it's their god given right to bring me down and attack who I am because they don't like what I've said. Then they say I'm being too sensitive and to basically shut up and stop being 'triggered.' This is victim blaming behaviour, and frankly, it's bullying behaviour. I'm also sick of having little potshots like yours when all I've done is try to make something I said over 15 pages ago, go away - but you guys say your little comments and move on with your lives...but I don't and I have to live with them all day once they're out there.

It doesn't matter that triple the amount of people have had favorable reactions to over 10,000 of my posts in the last 4 years...it all comes down to one opinion and my character is attacked and destroyed and I'm made to feel like shit/look like an arseh*le for trying to bury it or defend myself - I cannot win.

To be honest, seriously, f*ck it. I've apologized, I've deleted my posts, yet people like you can still find a way to get your potshots in and make me feel like absolute crap all over again. This place is toxic sometimes when people have dissenting positions, and I'm done with it. F*cked if you do, f*cked if you don't.

Enjoy. I'm out.

Catch.

I always thought Ben Ronke wasn't a bad sort of player for depth as a goal sneak... He's a good finisher and has wheels.

Is he worth a rookie shot? He's the right age profile for us.

Statistically he went pretty good in the VFL this year. Could be good depth behind Stengle, Miers and Close.

It's very late for me, but I cannot just let this go.

..when are people going to recognise the damage the written word can inflict on others. ...particular so when we have no idea the life circumstances individual posters are dealing with in their daily lives. Is it soooooo important to be right on the internet?

Really?

Time after time I delete posts that are "off topic"...regularly because the post is focussed on another poster rather than on football and related topics. I know my colleagues in the Mod team deal with these issues as I do...its infuriating .

We are adults here..it should not be that difficult to temper your posts while at the same time, challenging/disagreeing with opinions expressed by others.

There are many posters here...in fact a significant majority ...who rarely if ever feel the need to denigrate/diminish other people's opinions....yet...are able to express their own opinions without focussing on the individual they may not agree with.

It's not that hard.

I have known Shadow89 for years. He's no angel.....I suspect he would agree...we have had our moments.... but I have never found him to be abusive or disrespectful.

I hope that a few take the time to PM him and urge him to return and keep contributing to the issues that impact on the thing that we all share...our love for the GFC..its players, admin, coaches, recruiting team, medical team and fellow supporters...

And with that..it's time for me to crash.

GO CATS

I'm confused by a moderator trying to rekindle a discussion that another moderator has asked me and others to stop to ensure this topic stays on topic. As a moderator Daz how am I supposed to respond to this without going against what I have been told not to do. Seems like a pretty good pincer movement from the mods hahaha.

There's a time to speak...and a time to be silent. It's pretty obvious which applies at this point in time.

Feel he was stiff to be delisted but he only kicked 21 goals in 14 VFL games.

Edit - sorry, the above numbers were wrong, he kicked 34 in 14 games which is a different story. Didn’t get much of a gig in the seniors this year either. Named for seven games but three he started sub, and another he was the unused sub. The numbers in the four games he did play were decent, highlighted by 15 disposals and 3.1 v the Hawks. And he fits our age profile at 24 years.

I'll change the vibe of the last few pages here.

I'm pumped to see what Ollie Henry can produce after a big preseason.

The kid kicked 7.3 in a VFL game earlier in the year, averaged about 3 goals in the VFL and 1.6 in the AFL this season.

Anyway, this is my excitement rankings for incoming players and recruits from the year prior.

#1 - Henry (has serious talent that can't be taught)
#2 - Pick #7 (which will end up 8) if we use it
#3 - Willis (saw his one decent VFL game last year and was so impressed that I actually rewatched it... there is something there)
#4 - Bruhn (as everyone knows I'm very unsure about him, but will give him time)
#5 - Bowes (would be a real bonus for us if this guy proves to be long-term best 22 level)

Honorable mentions - Dempsey, Conway, Knevitt.

A bit harsh on a few premiership hero's.

What round of VFL in regards to Willis?
R20 V Zebras.

Stats only read 4 kicks, 14 handballs & 1 goal... but it was the way he looked super sharp in tight situations and made a way out to handball to a teammate that caught a few of our eyes.

I always look for something that someone can do to a very high standard that not many others can... Low to the ground power in tight seems to be his key trait... Looked hard to get hold of when I thought most guys on the field would get caught... Wilis got out and kept the ball alive.

He clearly has missed plenty of footy in the last couple of years so fingers crossed he can get a full crack at it next year.

Should have plenty of improvement in him "if" his body allows it.

I know that Hawkins has recently had foot surgery and he's return ETA is currently unknown, but what about the likes of,

Bews, Stewart, Duncan, Smith, Dangerfield, Stanley, Blicavs, Rohan, Tuohy & Z. Guthrie?

I'm not expecting them all to play round 1, but doubt we'll be missing 10 of the 11 premiership players on our list - maybe 4 or 5

LOL. No Stewart? No Danger? No Blitz? No Bews?? Yeah Okayyyy...
We must have walked under a ladder for us to have all these guys missing.

Don’t mind Phillipou either. Good skills and size. Can play mid or forward. Good speed, endurance. Confident and appears determined to get the best out of himself. Good footy genes….dad, Sam, was a star SA forward. Has stated that he would be more excited going interstate than staying in SA. Could have a little more development and a higher ceiling than some of the others but can he get there?? Continued to contribute after damaging his back in the first quarter against Vic Metro, finished the game. Risk…maybe that he was always going to be a basketballer until this year so a little less known about him?? There’s probably safer choices….there’s always the debate about whether to draft on what you see and know now vs predicting what they could be in 3/4 years.

But then I can find lots to like in any of the top 10 projections. As always Cats would know way more than me as well as the type of players/people they are looking for.
