We dont have much next year (only 1 pick inside 80) but no doubt we will be trading fringe players out to bring more picks in.

I think we obviously feel simpson has talent and hes had a bad injury run we want to give him a make or break 12 months. But we would have delisted and re rookied him if we rated the depth of the ND (that was more my point) so we obviously think the draft pool (beyond the top 20) isnt great.

The lack of picks next year in what will be a better draft than this year will be an issue. I doubt many clubs will be trading out picks like this year ... but things change I guess.

dfa's and FA will mean we are not short of options just not much in draft. I would not mind us adding a couple of dfa's to our VFL side ..to have a look at them

We shouldn't forget that Sam Simpson was good enough to be selected in a grand final, not that long ago.

Be nice to see him have a solid run at it. There will be a lot of change soon so ther4 will be a chance but the concussion thing is a cloud over all players and clubs

I saw this, but I have to ask as I do not remember, why was he playing? He was only depth even then so my question is who was missing?

Think Clark gets to us. Reckon that’s who we will select as we typically favour falcons.

Ginbey Tsatas and Humphrey probably go before our pick

I agree... Just feels like we are destined to land Clark for whatever reason (right or wrong).

Maybe one of Tsatas or Ginbey are also available when pick 8 comes around (doubt Humprey will be)... But I just think we will take Clark anyway (assuming he is still available).

As per usual... Only time will tell if we pick a winner.

I certainly wouldn't be shattered if we got a Tsatas, Ginbey, Humprey or even Philipou instead of Clark... But in the end all that matters is whoever we get ends up a very solid player in the future, as what we think about them now means nothing compared to what they end up producing.

I don't care who we get as long as we can look back in a few years and be happy we made a good call and I guess the other exception is that one of the obvious options that we pass up turns out to be a superstar (because that would suck).

No one was missing, they dropped Atkins instead. Simpson had an excellent back half of the year and finals series.

Simpson was fringe all year. Go look at the team. We were not deep in 2020.

After the first final atkins was dropped.
And the team never changed again.

I don’t think Simpson had a lot of it in the GF. But gee his impact was excellent.

Assuming you are spot on ... who do we draft in your opinion. Humprey? Tsitas?
If Tsatas is actually there I think we'll pick him tbh, one of few genuine quality outside players in the draft and most of ours are north of 30, has inside scope aswell once he adds some more size, would be surprised if he gets through though the 3 sides with picks before us all need his type for mine.

Yes...he had a breakout game... I think against Brisbane where he racked up nearly 30 disposals but then injuries and niggles intervened before the big hit on him in the GF in 2020.

He has taken a long time to recover from that...here's hoping he gets a good crack at it this time.

Would love him... Just feel we will take Clark though.

If Clark wasn't a Falcon would it be different? Probably.

It will hurt to pass up Tsatas.

If we don't select Tsatas though the fact that he even made it to our pick would suggest that many clubs passed as well.

It happens every year, there's meltdowns on club boards ranting saying "How could we pass on him?".... Forgetting that the reason he even made it there in the first place is because other clubs had the same views.

To me he feels very similar to Dylan Stephens from a couple of years ago. These players have the ability to slide because they're the cream of your side, not necessarily the prime movers. I rate our youth pretty highly and the broader AFL community is finally starting too as well, but we're still not yet at a stage to be picking players who are the icing on the cake. We still need our Selwood replacement.

Cal saying Gold Coast interested in Clark or Gibney. What a let down that would be.

Mitch reporting that the Saints now in for McKenna with the Bombers, Port and Brisbane and that we are now outsiders. Will know over next 7 days. If Mitch is reporting that then I’d say the ship has sailed.
