I wonders when Bowes will move to Geelong and even do interview on the Geelong Media Pages

Probably see him the same day we see the new draftees. The guy has been in QLD his whole life, bought a house on the GC, his partner is up there etc

I assume he just needs to get everything in order before moving down.

I’ll believe Mullin when I see him in Australia with a Geelong training jumper on.

On a seperate note it’s one of those drafts where youre not going to be unhappy with any of the top 10. You can throw a blanket over pretty much all of them. I can’t see a scenario with anybody being bitterly disappointed with our pick which is rare

My bet there were some that were not happy that we draft Joel back in 06... I cant be bothered to check. No matter who we draft I certainly will be 100% behind them as long as they are at geelong etc.

Whats the odds we can pick the eyes out of the draft from our pick on. Really who ever we name..if they play 100 games we are probably ahead of the game from then on.

No worries mate, was a pleasure :)

Honestly, I'm right there with ya when it came to the whole 'doom and gloom' prior to this season. We looked like we were going off the same cliff that the Hawks and Eagles had before us, and I saw no signs to the contrary that this was going to change. Fast forward to now and we have a flag, incredible depth and I feel like we're right back in 2016 again. It's actually remarkable how we keep doing this. I have no doubt we'll have a crack at TDK come end of next year as well - meaning the wheel just keeps turning and we just do not stay down for long.

Re: the Future 2nd, my thought process with that all along, was that we were going to give that up for Bowes originally (or so we all thought), and that the Future 3rd would have gone to Brisbane instead as part of the pick package. Because we got Bowes for the Future 3rd, it worked out the exact same, just via different channels.

Clark is an interesting one, as he has a really good head on his shoulders, and is probably the closest thing to a 'lock' in this draft that you can get. Doesn't matter if he goes to GC, WA, us or a Melbourne club, I reckon he stays put and just puts in the hard yards - he's just that sort of guy. He's probably a bit more Collingwood than Geelong when it comes to family, but given he has literally played his entire professional underage career with the Falcons, I daresay he won't be disappointed if he gets to link up with us and play alongside some of his old underage teammates and friends - like Bruhn and Ollie.

Clark was my pipe dream at the start of last year, given his sheer will to win like a certain just retired captain of ours...but I never thought in a million years we'd have a chance of snaring him AND win the flag. I thought we might have a down year and trade up with a Future 1st...but both...seems like Twilight Zone fan fiction, haha. People also underrate just how good of a user of the ball he is - especially under pressure - and how good a leap he has for someone who only measures 181 cm.

With all this said, I've been consistent in that my actual player I want the most (by a bees dick), is Cam Mackenzie. Love Jhye, but Cam reminds me of Guth and uses it so well on both sides of his body, that I think he could be absolutely elite. Was very happy to hear we were linked to him this week, and wouldn't surprise me to see us select him either given all his fantastic traits. I definitely will be happy with either of these kids though, and am fascinated to see which way we go (Busslinger is the other who I'd be fine with, but who is 3rd on my list, with Humphrey and then Hewett rounding out my Top 5 for varying reasons).

Who knows what'll happen, but at least we'll have an answer soon one way or the other. Only 16 more days to go now!!

Blending the best player, the player most likely to find a way into our side and the player most likely to persist persist persist without dropping the lip and wanting out if it takes time. Not that I blame any player wanting to exercise their choice once they are uncontracted but it sure makes it tougher to call out a name when our side thick with talent and you have a pick in the top 10. Bit different to 1999.

Clark seems to be a good blend of all the criteria. If he is there I struggle to see us going past him. The real fun happens if Gold Coast or Haw pick him.

I think this draft will be remembered as the draft of the mids...

I also think Gibney will make it, but I think he will be better as a outside midfielder, or a flanker. Could be a damaging type. He probably can play as an Inside Mid, but I reckon he would be very damaging on the outside or flanks. If you have the chess pieces in place, and he is positioned on the outside, its check mate Isaac Smith style.

There was a story on Channel 7 news last night of him working one-on-one with Andrew Raines on the GC before he moves down.

I'd put my entire life savings of $4.50 on at least one in the top 10 just being a so-so player (like every year).

It's easy to be happy just after the draft when you have hope in the player.

It's easy to be disappointed in a couple of years when that hope evaporates as when you realize that certain players just aren't going to live up to their predraft hype.

Hopefully whoever we take ends up being in the "very good long-term player basket" and not the "we made a mistake basket".

I'm all for caution, but want to at least know who it is I need to be cautiously optimistic about ... 😬

Yeah I still can't believe we missed out on Mitch Thorp that year... we probably would've won every flag from 2007 to now if he'd gotten through to us.

Just another reason to hate Hawthorn.
(Or in this case, laugh at them!)

Absolutely prob half will be ordinary but I can’t see “outrage” on draft night. Even if Clark was on the board and overlooked for say a Mackenzie or Ginbey most would be ho hum about it. I would but maybe I’ve misread that.

Agree, don’t think we’re in the ‘pluck a rabbit out of the hat’ position to do that this year, no matter how unpredictable (on here) Wells is sometimes. Pretty confident we get a solid long term player this year. Star, maybe not, but a long term prospect would be awesome coming off a flag.

Edit - just checked our first pick in the past three flag years…not too shabby at all. Harry Taylor, Menzel and Hamling with a late pick.

If we happen to walk away with Clark we'll get a star.

You know I 100% am on board, been posting about him since he was 13 or 14. Still surprised we are some sort of chance to snag him, or someone rated similar.

Jack who in your humble will be the better player - Cooper Stephens or young Clark? You are on record as liking them both a lot.
This is the worry... Cooper turned out to be just a plodder over the past 3 years to be honest.
He was rated pretty high by more than a few on here even I thought he was gonna be a special big inside bull that we would have loved.
But in the end he really didn't show much at all. We let him go for that reason IMO. The ceiling had been reached in the club's eyes.
Nice kid hope he gets a game and makes a few dollars at the Dorks.
The Clark kid is getting similar sorts of adulation here which doesn't bode well... If past tells anything at all.
Full disclosure here. I don't rate Clark as high as some but in saying that i think 15 players after pick 3 are much the same.
If we take him great, he'll be one of us. If not it will be " Insert name here " and i'll be rapt as he'll be a CAT.

Stephens hasn’t had a chance to turn out to be anything.
2 years of not playing footy can do that to you.

Forgotten where the 2020 and 2021 grand finals were played?

It's hard to say. I think both will churn out decent careers.

Geelong didn't get rid of him in the sense they didn't rate him... He asked to be traded.

He had the same chance as Tom Atkins Max Holmes Zac Guthrie SDK so i don't buy that argument sorry Tony.
The whole team went through the same 2-3 years.
He didn't do enough for me and for the Club it seems.
Pity we threw away pick 15 on him... Mitch GeorgieBoy from WA would've been a handier pick up in hindsight.
But anyhow i have moved on.
Cheers

Potato... Potatoe.
It doesn't really matter anymore.
He's gone, we shipped him off for bugger all in the end as we either didn't rate him or didn't think he'd get a game.
Wells gets more than he misses so with Holmes and SDK he's still ahead.
Let's hope O'Henry delivers more than Cooper did which won't be hard IMO.

He said weeks ago it will take him a while to get down.
Will rent somewhere and just get the lay of the land.

Finding a rental right now is stupid also.
