If like Hopper, that's what he's after, then Hawks it is. It's just not what we do and our success has been built on effectively managing our salary cap and its great to see we won't be deviating from this proven method.

This.

We've achieved success through hard work, team work, and a focus on the collective, not the individual.

Been no hand outs, and happy to continue that way.

The best thing about trade week is all these 'journos' and 'experts' and 'friends mates mum's sisters dog' proving all the 'inside info' where players are going... You get so many predictions that one has to end up being right based on probability - but it also means we get to laugh at all those 'experts' who's 'inside' knowledge turned out to be complete bullshit. Please AFL make this shit 5 days - we don't need to make this a circus.

If we missed out on Bowes & Menegola was to leave I’d have a look at Setterfield rather than Dow.
Despite all the talent at Carlton, their coaches don't get the best out of their players when they can't even scrape into 8th spot. Perhaps the Cats think they could do better with either player now that we have missed on Hopper and possibly Bowes, with no news on McKenna. The right age group and will not cost much.

The fact that people are talking about AFL for 12+ hours a day for weeks in October means they won't shorten trade period.

Hell, it kept rugba leeg off the headline of foxsports.com.au for most of its own grand final week and in the immediate aftermath of Penrith's win. And that site is usually as pro-NRL as there is out there.

AFL, the media and their sponsors would be absolutely loving it.

Really hope we get McKenna on deck, VicW for the very reasons you’ve identified - hey was he the guy who busted out a Gaelic Footy style ‘solo’ on the run a couple of seasons ago? If so, he has a certain, how does one say, je nais sais quoi…
'Je ne sais quoi', I believe. Unless you're talking about being born..

We are going to have a great off season with or without Bowes. I would like to see him come but if no, then fine. Trust the club to fill the mid positions over the next one to two years. Interesting that mostly on this board, we all are assuming that Stephens and Knevitt will not make it, but they may be 4 year slow burns like Atkins. Anyway, its much ado about this Bowes thing, but if he doesnt come for our reasoning with him, then fine, he doesnt. We stick to what we have bult, and it works. If he does come, I am hopeful we have sorted out how the salary doesnt stuff up our cap approach.

How do you actually "lead in the race" for Bowes? He just makes his mind up which one to go with!
Wouldn't be as exciting if it was just like 'Bowes is currently sitting on his sofa with a packet of chips on his chest currently looking at houses in Melbourne and Geelong. Will make his decision once he puts on some pants' :tearsofjoy:

Just read Mackie's comments where he said we had conversations awhile ago but haven't spoken to him recently although they would in the near future. Maybe I'm misreading things but that didn't sound that promising

Not sure why they need to speak constantly. He can be signed right up to Feb.

I think Chris Scott said that it was potentially the most important part of building success - the list management/salary cap management stuff.

We see teams build excellent lists of players, but score a 2/10 for their list management or a 4/10 for development.

We meanwhile do a 6/10 for building a list and a 10/10 for list management and a 9/10 for development. It's clear to see what are the most important facets in successful teams.
