As normal, would like to acknowledge & thank Lore for creating this, keeping it up to date and making it available for all users on BF to use and keep track of the picks ahead of the upcoming draft

They will trade him for a late pick after a lot of back and forth over how much of the contract they pay. They probably only want to pay 250-300 a year (like grundy and coll) but we probably want them to pay more.

I don’t think it will be that straightforward. I think it will require at least our FF. Could be wrong. If it gets to that stage which is no certainty just yet.

Future first? No chance. Board will never sign off on that with the risks Clayton has and the 8mil or more contract. There won't be any top 30 picks involved if we do it (and I'm sure Melbourne know that). It will either be late picks or they will keep him.

I hope you are right about being able to get him cheap.

Well this has taken our minds off Bailey Smith for a few hours.

That would be the only way we would do it. Unless they are paying 500k or more (which I can't see happening) they won't get a first rounder for him. The contract makes it too difficult. I still don't want to do it even for a r3 but I accept we might.

If the Dees do actually want Oliver out and have been shopping him around behind his back, they can’t stand firm on keeping him unless they get a R1 for him.

If they want him out, they have almost zero leverage.

This Dee’s club is soooo bad atm.

Absolutely monkeys running it.

I feel they need to move him on and get it over with or this will carry on for years.

OLIVER dependant on 2 things for mine.

Melbourne swallowing a bit of pride, thinking the version of Oliver they will be getting is not worth the grief, moving on with a later pick and paying a small portion, say $200k

Geelong convincing Oliver to take a slight pay cut, performance based taking a more holistic approach to getting his life back on track.

Basically we get him for a token pick and a potential wage of 6-900k over six years. I don’t think we should be throwing everything at him, must be a WIN-win for us however it plays out.

Worth a throw at the stumps.

Agree on bolded. Although, I’m going harder on MFC + Oliver.

Include/indulge my complete lack of trading knowledge. Am purely assessing a sensible + practical approach. Sensible to me.

What portion of Oliver’s contract is based on performance?

If MFC sack or delist Oliver must the contract be paid in full?

Token pick yes.

Thinking laterally.

Geelong agrees to pay $200k on condition Oliver performs to a certain level, but consideration given to adjusting in first year at Geelong. After Year 1, if Oliver fails to perform (excluding injury) $200k reduces (to be negotiated).

If Oliver joins Geelong, a pay cut is nonnegotiable. As said, give him a year to settle in. A contract for two years with increases according to performance. Contract extensions with base salary increases + performance increases.

Yes, I’m a tough, old school woman.

Note: Oliver’s hand injury is considered + it’s Geelong’s risk.

EDIT: I do believe in second chances ☺️

Are they paying 75% of his salary for the remaining years of his contract?

Not sure he has any performance based clauses at Melbourne but definitely should if we take him. That’s on him. We need a deal where we can cut him loose and not lose a minutes sleep.

Melbourne fans adamant that Oliver is going no where
with most things trade related, fans are literally the last people anyone should listen to

current forum included, we are all just talking about what we want to see happen, not what actually might happen

Everything is for sale for the right price...

IF Sam says he wants to look at his options in terms of a trade, and an interested club came to us with 2 x first round picks for SDK, including a top 10 pick, surely serious consideration is giving to it

Exactly, one shows a weakness or a habit and is a disregard or abuse of ones self (i.e. physical health, mental stability, bank account).
The other is a disrespect / disregard and a lack of care of the damage one does to others around them as long as their perceived 'needs' are met.

Huge difference IMO
Alcoholism, gambling, drug addiction etc are illnesses.

Boofing another’s partner is a choice, but it takes two to tango.

Hypersexuality can stem from mental health implications. Read an article this morning about those with ADHD, who experience difficulties with impulse control, executive functioning + self-regulation, potentially contributing to an increased risk of engaging in impulsive or dangerous behaviours, including hypersexuality.
