You'd think they would be a little more gun shy after the horrible contract they have Darcy on

We would have more cap space yes but I suppose it depends where the brothers see their greatest chance of success is. I'd be disappointed if we weren't throwing cash at tdk given our ruck issues.
One day one of these stupidly long contracts is going to backfire really badlyFremantle extended Young until he is 32, I'll cringe the day we sign one of those contacts

Yeah now that we have Smith, does TDK become an even more valuable commodity than say Zac Butters ? Before he got injured this season he was breaking games apart single handedly.

TDK's comment today suggested - to me anyway - that Geelong doesn't appeal to him.
Managers are pushing this now but I don't like the risk either.
That said if we trade in a high profile player this year I bet they will be contracted to 2032/33 too.
Most "high profile" players aren't worth it. There is no value is chasing the herd. If everyone is doing x, we should be doing y
We've done alright with Ottens, Dangerfield, Cameron and hopefully Smith.

I wouldn't expect him to say anything different right now.
Some good news as we head into the Xmas
Surely we re-sign all of them?
Cameron - No chance of leaving, will retire a Cat
Sam De Koning - Only one i'm iffy on. We'd want him but he has to want to stay
Neale - Our Tomahawk replacement, will be a Cat for long term
Dempsey - Young star, will be a Cat long term
O.Henry - local boy won't go anywhere
Close - ee no reason why he wouldn't want to stay and be a Cat for life.

We should refer to players buying farms when they move here the "cat trap"Cameron has a trigger clause in his deal - but him re-signing seems a formality
Two of those aren't like the others, and those guys didn't get 9 years. It is important to be targeted.
