Well clearly your not planning for the worst, with what your saying

So if it was 'no s**t' then you wouldve taken that into account, you have not
The Kings Ransom isn't (to the best of my knowledge) a member of the Suns list management team.

He doesn't need to make plans for anything, we're just nuffies talking nonsense on Big Footy.

I haven’t once mentioned any picks or points or any risk mitigation scenarios. I’ve not bothered delving into that.

I purely said my gut feel is that Rogers gets bid on around pick 20.

I'd bet my house Read drifts out to like pick 15 as well. Rucks just arent popular and he's academy, someone will put a token bid at like pick 15 or something

I hope so. I’m not so sure. He is looking a better and better prospect to me as the year goes on.

5 marks and 4 shots on goal in the VFL this week just gone is impressive for a skinny tall in his first game against men.

For him to run 6 mins for 2km, be able to mark, kick and gather the ball below his knees.

Potential to be a special player - not just a ruckman.

Too risky for us IMO, don't want to trade what could be a top 3 pick for pick 4 or 5.

We could be in for quite a lean year next year if the new coach goes into rebuild mode.

Tigers won't finish last.

So a F pick 2 at worst for current pick 4.

Future benefits need to be discounted back to today's current value.

It's a very even swap that.

Shut up man 😂

Yeh I don't think we'll finish last, but I guess it depends how the top 3-4 is rated next year compared to this year.

This year there's obviously a few key academy picks.

Of course there's the positive gamble where if we trade 2024 1st rounder, maybe we perform slightly better than expected and it ends up being pick 6 for example.

It’s such a dumb system. Clubs know where they are going for highly rated academy and F/S so don’t do their due diligence and bids are always way later than they should be plus the discount? At a minimum the discount should be removed priority access is enough advantage. Problem is the only alternative to market valuation is independent valuation like a panel assigning them draft worth to force clubs to match for a fixed amount of draft capital and that comes with a lot of complication too. Screw it put all draft hopefulls into academies and pre select and gives us all the time back!

This is the "problem" with how GC's pick is now. Like, sure, I'd probably have Richmond 3rd favourite for a bottom 4 spot next year but I'd also have them as good a chance as any of the other bottom 8 teams this year to squeak into the 8 with the general age profile of the list. There's never been a year like this year in terms of the ladder and that means it's anyone's guess to where they finish.

GC should move the pick back a bit to maximise the value

That's why it's way better and less risky for Suns to do for example picks trade with WB involving their 2 first round picks (11, 17), and then use one in trade for points and one for F1. I still did not see better alternative.

I think GC can do better than that but it’s probably the minimum reasonable trade.

Edit: depends what happens with Flanders or Hollands

It will be interesting if Suns also keep Graham, who is now predicted to go within top 30-40. This thread will be busy until draft.
I think a pick 30-40 bid is extremely easy to match. You basically just do it with a future 4th or two. Get a team to smuggle in pick 50 or something for you (that they wont use), trade it to them for a couple of future 4ths on draft night when the bid comes.

The key to this is how many late first or second rounders the suns can add themselves without trading their pick 4. If they can get anywhere close then it will come down to getting an established player or the best future pick. I am hoping for that as I think it puts the hawks in the best position. I don’t see a player a club would give up good enough for pick 4. Eagles and North will be bottom 2 again so surely can’t give up their first. Hawks already said ours is on the table we can add dogs second for their remaining points if needed.

No doubt. Personally, I am curious if Suns want him after getting Walter, Read and Rogers. He did have 2 ACLs. Some people value him highly.

WE DON’T NEED POINTS!!!!!!!!

Iva... I can understand the no need for points this year.. (depending on how many vacancies/delistings you make)

so what is you feel for what happens to the pick. Do you trade it out for a player...trade up in draft ..trade it into next year for 2024 R1?

On points... what about next year. Do you have any potential high end kids like Walter next year?

Hey Turbocat

I think it’s one of the following and in this order IMO

1. Use pick 4 on securing an A grader from another club, who? I don’t know but there were 3 that enquired last year about joining but we didn’t have the cap space, unfortunately one of them re-signed with his current team. Your clubs windfall last trade period helped to right the ship in terms of cap space

2. Move the pick back securing a deal something like our pick for the dogs 2X firsts. Allowing us to retain the points we need and still secure a handy player in trade ( not an A grader but very handy)

3. Trade it into next year, I don’t think this is likely as we have another couple of boys that are looking promising for next years draft ( and the one after)

4. Trade up to get pick 1, I can’t see this happening but it’s possible so I added it.
