Will be head coach next. The frauds running the club rate his football intellect. Listening to that bum on the radio for 5 seconds indicated to me he was a clueless fool.

My guess is he will be gone by midway through 2020. Whoever replaces him will be more of the same.

One thing is for certain, if the coaches think they can wind back the clock to 2017 and pick the same team and play the same way, they should all resign.

We all thought a fit and happy side would turn back time, but it can’t.

marty36 was right about our ageing players, he just got lost in his burton/Doedee/Ogilvie love triangle and blamed the wrong person.
ELITE the problem we have is the list i would be saying drop tex betts lynch mackay ROB gibbs uf we had the list that had players to replace them

I keep saying it stop with the BS over our recruitment team they have failed as has the coaching team

I don’t think we at that far away, we won’t win it but we aren’t that far away, losing Seeds suck but our forward line is killing us.

Love Tex and Eddie but **** we aren’t going anywhere with our current mix, it’s too old and slow and predictable.

Greenwood has to come in.
Stengle has to come in.

This fitness crap has to stop. No point in being fit if you’re doing nothing. These guys change our mix.

And it’s not the reason for the loss but fixkjng hell, we’ve got an elite winger in Seeds and we play him forward so we can shuffle our side to fit in Mackay, that sums up our selection committee.
From what I could see it was just a straight swap from last with with knight and seed because we wanted knight to run with selwood.

We do have the players to replace them, all squads have 44 odd players, we just don’t know how good they are because we don’t play them.

Good
We seem to be getting better, but so have our opponents, so it looks worse than it is. That said, still only performing mid tier level amongst the comp.
Won a lot of areas, badly beat in contested and a little down on hit outs.
Keath was good.
Jones started well.

Bad
Forward entry
A lot of awkward patterns of play
Even if we said drop everything, it doesn't matter how much we lose by, we need to practice scoring fast, I don't think we could go any faster than we go, which is to say our attacking ability is terrible
We are a 12 goal max side at the moment
Defensive setup, let their forward line be open, allow ours to be up against extras, ive been saying it for 3+ years.
As I said at half time in gameday, I'm worried our complex gameplan has been badly hampered by the banning of runners.
Every year we seem to start with our forwards and mids mystified as to how to work with each other. Every year it takes 5 or 6 games to get it working. Does our gameplan really change that much or ????
A lot of the issues listed above have been listed before.
2 ACL's - have we really solved our injury issues or have we just changed from Hammy's to ACL's

Ugly
Surely Gibbs is putting dollars on the opposition each week and then doing his best to get the result.
Someone just needs to do some videos of their forward entries and subsequent play versus ours and you will soon see the defensive setup issue I'm talking about. I wont get time to do it until the second half of the year.

Geelong draft kids and give them games, we draft them and send them to a reserves comp.

McHenry didn’t even get a JLT game FFS.

The entire focus of the commentary was Geelong’s youth. During and after the game.

How they selected them.

And then played them in meaningful positions and gave them responsibility.

We struggle with the first, little loan the second.

We probably win with Cameron tonight. Not so much 4 goals but the goals he would have kicked would have would have prevented some of Geelong's rebounds.
And that's the key thing. Rebound goals cost us the grand final when he was injured, cost us last year, and cost us last night. Playing Murphy and Chayce and Eddie in the same fwd line to compensate for it doesn't leave out the fact our forwards don't keep the ball in the 50.

Frustrating thing about Tex is that the brief period in the 3rd quarter where he was good, took a couple of grabs, snared a goal... was comfortably our best part of the game. Actually the only time we looked like a functioning team rather that just getting return from a scrambling series of frantic efforts.

He is our most influential player, unfortunately that cuts both ways.
Pushed up the ground and had more one on one contests. Couldn't call for the ball over the back and wasn't being smashed by the spare man and Jenkins' defender at the same time. I'm a Walker critic but he got us back in that third quarter with a minimum of touches.

If Crouch kicks straight Adelaide's list would have hit the lead against Geelong late in the 4th.
Yeah....but we were playing on our home ground....with the crowd roaring.
Against a team that was 2 men down for almost the entire last qtr.
Against a team that was coming off a 5 day break after playing in the wet.

If you cant take that advantage....and turn it into a win after missing a shot on goal.....your a VERY average side.

Everyone just needs to stop making excuses for these poorly coached show ponies.

What about Hamill? Is he ready? Let's drop the illusion we are going to win the flag and get games into players who will be here next year.
Hamill And Scholl were both very good last week. If they can back it up this week then why the **** not.

Long time reader, but I rarely post...can’t help it this morning.

The connection between our midfield and foward line is not existent . To add to that the forwards don’t play as a unit. Having Ben Hart who obviously can’t coach + a bunch of rookie SANFL coaches isn’t working. Also have had 3 forward line coaches in three years obviously hasn’t helped. Mattner and Godden may well end up being good coaches but, it takes time to adjust to AFL systems and tactics, and we have two blokes doing this adjustment at the same time.

Jenkins can play good footy, but he needs a bake and to be sent back to the reserves. Always plays from behind, then signals for the ball to be delivered high, like he thinks he’s going to take a big mark....yeh right. Our forwards are largely all lead up forwards, but they don’t play like it. The amount of times you could see them all standing stationary was a disgrace. Then when they occasionally do lead, the ball gets kicked over there head or to their opponent, so then they go back to just standing and pointing. Now I live interstate so I don’t go to a lot of games, so I could be wrong here. But our forwards when they do lead, rarely have separation from their defenders, do they actually block for each other something a foward line coach would teach? I know none of them are particularly quick, but neither is Hawkins and he gets separation.

We had enough quick breaks from defence and some good ball movement, in sections that Largely failed at that last kick into the 50.

Gibbs is he injured? or just doesn’t give a shit? He has never been the hardest player, but he is suppose to be a good kick. That kick after the 50m penalty, he wasn’t even looking where he was kicking.

I'll have my rant in a little while, but I don't believe coaching is our biggest issue right now.

I'll explain in greater detail but there's more to it.

To be fair Hawthorn use a similar style to us, and most of Geelongs newbies have spent at least a year in the 2s.

We are a conservative organisation - from the top to the bottom. Simply believing that our best from 2017 will be good enough to jump back up the ladder is sheer folly. The likes of Geelong and Collingwood have shown that you need to blood youth, and back them in to remain in contention. Jones has been pretty good, but we need Gallucci, Greenwood and Poholke, and someone like Stengle to come in and shake the place up. Biggest problem apart from what Whealbelt so rightly points out, is our one-paced players all over the park, especially the midfield. Geelong were able to get clear, clean breaks - especially from the midfield, whereas most of ours were rushed kicks or kicks around the corner, where their defence had an even chance to intercept or nullify our entries. In contrast they had blokes (even rookies) running off the back of the square for handball receives and were able to spot up targets with monotonous regularity. Note that Geelong also recognised that they can't simply play the Holy Trinity in the midfield every week and expect to start winning - they have mixed it up and injected youth across each line - which gives them unpredictability, more run, and the added benefit of youthful enthusiasm to push the oldies along.

We rarely do this, but maybe now's the time with a couple of our best 22 sidelined for the year, and two losses at home already.

45000 posts ago I said we needed to convert our chances

Nothings ****ing changed

Cats looked the goods and a 10 goal belting was on the cards early

I just don’t ....
I don’t even .....
WTF is going on when we have a defender looking after our forwards ?

No space and every single goal was hard ****ing work

Cats got at least 5 straight out from the Centre and coastvyo Coast

We faff about for 20 minutes kicking 1-5 - they shoot it out the guts for 2 straight

Disappointed but beaten by a quality side and not smashed ( on the scoreboard anyway)

You see the issue is you have such a blinkered view, you can call them excuses but you add 5 first and second round picks and that changes our side completely, plus the players we’ve lost.

Plus our coaches rarely play kids, look at our forward line, they won’t make the hard call and Fog will play reserves. Stengle will keep killing it in the sanfl and he won’t replace Betts.

It wasn’t Mackays fault but with our need to find a spot for him we played Seeds up forward for parts of the game and he had a shit game until they moved him back to the wing, at one stage he was bloody full forward!
