He's had one good game and possibly his last season.

It's funny how quickly people forget his M.O for the last 3 years has been dump kicks around the corner 15 times a game, because he actually decided to break some lines against St Kilda.

I would have Worrell every day of the week before Smith.

Rubbish. Sits comfortably in our top 7 B&F ytd

When are we going to crack 40,000 for a home game again?

WCE Saturday twilight? Hmmm
North Melbourne Saturday lunchtime? Not too optimistic

Rnd 18 Saturday night vs GWS? Maybe...

Rnd 20 home Showdown. A fair way off
What was the crowd size tonight ?

Big crowds are good financially for the club, and atmosphere.

But I like smaller lines for food/drink and easier to leave after the game.

I was at the Showdown this season and even though the crowd was close to 50k, it was no hassle leaving the game...probably because most Port Fans had left 15 minutes beforehand...

The best part of this passage?

The one-two combo of Rankine to Rash. If it was Rash to Rankine, it would have likely to be just as special and just as mystifying!
Yes, either way, great goal.
What I loved also was how Rankine held the ball for a split-second while Rachele got into better position.
Rankine's footy smarts are elite, not just his skills.

I am in the Western Stand and the bottle neck to get to the Southern gate is borderline dangerous.

Terrible design.

If we were to make finals, that intensity goes up and there will be no space and it's just not going to work with Sholl.

Has taken some really good contested marks deep in defence in at least 3 games I can recall. Which is something I wouldn’t think he would be capable of. He keeps growing his game - a player that may start to peak closer to 80 games than 50.

Milera looked like he was playing in dry conditions all night. Stood up with Smith out and Lions pressing early.

Hopefully the last few weeks have started to remind people what he can bring and why they have persisted with him through challenging times

On the Zorko eye-gouge, it was curious that the commentator was extremely quick to say there was nothing to see (no pun intended) regarding Zorkos's fingers. The replay showed clear deliberate gouging positioning of the fingers. Totally uncalled for.
Why do people eye gouge?

Second question : why do people eye gouge when they know there are 20 cameras on them?

Good:
Milera - a top 3 game of his career. His ability to extract himself from situations where it looked certain that he’d be tackled was sublime. Brilliant game.

Keays - many wanted him dropped for this game, and the response was one of the very best games of Keays’ career. Did a bit of everything. 11 score involvements was particularly pleasing to see - I’d venture to suggest he’s never done that at AFL level before.

Sloane’s 4th quarter - turned into a superhero in the final term. Tackles, knock ons, smothers, all of the little things. One of the best quarters I can recall him playing.

Laird - a tackling masterclass in the wet from Rory.

Rankine - should end up with 2 or 3 Brownlow votes for that, despite a very shaky start early. Led the team with 16 contested possessions, despite not attending any centre bounces or really playing any midfield time at all, which is mind-boggling. Also had a ludicrous 13 score involvements, for a team that scored 25 times. Yes, he was involved in more than 50% of our scores. For reference, the Lions scored 28 times and didn’t have any players with more than 7 score involvements.

Rachele - I’ve been a massive critic of Rachele in the last 6 weeks - largely because he’s absolutely butchered the ball every game, AND sometimes his effort and intensity level is unequivocally sub-par. Today he only had 15 disposals, but he barely even wasted one, and made fantastic decisions with ball in hand. Top quality stuff, capped off with 3 goal assists and a brilliant goal. Here’s hoping he can keep that up and turn the corner because he’s too talented for this butchering every set shot and burning the ball in general play rubbish that he’d been dishing up in the weeks leading up to today.

Josh Worrell - should play every game for the next 10 years when fit. Has more football talent in his non-preferred pinky than the likes of Butts and Doedee can even dream about. Makes great decisions with ball in hand too. Welcome back Josh. Please don’t break.

Luke Pedlar - have you ever seen a better 9 possession game? This guy is going to be a frightening monster if he can stay fit and truly build his tank over this coming offseason. A left-footed Petracca beckons. His ability to halve a contest when he has absolutely no right to is a genuine weapon.

Chayce Jones - Solid. As. A. Rock.

Bad:
Doedee - his complete inability to keep his feet would be comical if it didn’t cost us goals. In addition to this, he is one of the worst decision makers by foot I’ve ever seen play AFL football.

Sholl - amazing 1st quarter, then absolute shite after that. I wouldn’t persist with him now that Worrell is back in, and with Smith and Hinge presumably ready to return next week. Kicking is overrated as it provides little to no hurt factor due to having no penetration (takes the easy option), and his tackling is nothing short of pathetic. Also looks like he’s running in concrete most of the time and can’t change direction like a normal human.

Sloane’s first 3 quarters - complete and utter rubbish from Rory, until he donned the superman cape in the 3qtr time huddle.

Agree on all this except I genuinely didnt think Doedee was that bad.

Yes he slipped at some crucial moments, but he owned Gunston.

Most of his slips I would say was also when he was trying to cover and clearly the weather didn't help.

All played well but:

Rachele - a couple weeks ago I thought he was on track to be dropped, needed to lift, and he has!

Jones - this is the year we’ve been waiting for. You take it for granted he’ll go in hard and make a good decision.

Milera - a pretty good month. I’ve been as critical as any of him. Would love to be wrong, and he’s starting to make me believe again.

Pedler - 9 disposals? WTUF. If he averages 20+ he’ll win every award there is. And I think he will.

Rankine - we didn’t overpay.

Sloane - the last quarter is what you need from an experienced player. Knew the team needed someone to carry it for 5-10 minutes and he did.

Fogarty - loved his game. Some second efforts to get away a handball etc. No longer do we have any worries about his engine.

And…

Imagine thinking Hipwood is the key forward that you can build your side around
