If Curtin is only viewed as a defender, why did we waste pick 8? Didn’t we learn from you know who? This makes absolutely no sense.
Yes because he stopped running to the pocket, he stopped dead in his tracks and watched it go over his head before he realised that ball was ment for him

You’re one of those guys that has to go against the tide for the sake of it. Congratulations. McHenry is a sub standard footballer.
I can't defend Adelaide's development of young players but I wouldn't say 2 games in defence means we only see him as a defender.
Disconnect between recruiters and coaches. Everyone can see Curtins future wasn't as a key defender.
We still have ball use issues out the back half. For years now we've had to watch Smith sprint down the middle and send a skyball 55 metres down the throat of their interceptor. Nank and Curtin offered nothing, Hinge barely saw the ball. It was all Dawson on the rebound who also has to play 3 positions.

Big moment in the 4th. Laird and Crouch in the middle...
There's been quite a few games this season where we continued this same game plan and got destroyed by opposition defenders... Shows our coaches and strategy is really lacking...
Nank was OK. Curtin conceded how many goals? But we needed him after half time obviously.

It was a bit over his head but he didn't even jump for it.
Hope not. He looked strained when the final siren went.
At least 2 goals i think at that point... He's not a defender... We could all see that since the pre season games

Any coach that can't get a side up at home against a side in Brisban's position is just a complete ****wit.
Thought we played pretty well tbh except for our defence, which was quite loose for the entire game. Don't think any of our defenders had a good game, which is rare this year.
Brisbane were no easy beats today. Their defence was the reason we didn't win. Tex getting a bath from Payne in multiple marking contests really threw our momentum.
Good:
Soligo. Think he was even better today. So many one handed pick ups.
Rankine. Gun
Dawson pretty good. Sucks that he missed that shot.
Fogarty excellent game
Keays very good. That's his role and he does it well.
Sholl played well again.
Himmelberg could be a decent player. I've always liked him, but he just doesn't put it together. Today he played fairly well for a defensive forward.
Average :
Laird Crouch. Neither had a big impact on the game, but both were decent in contested ball.
Rachele. A bit harsh as I thought he was an okay game, just needs to get involved a bit more for a player of his skill and fitness base.
Cook. Love when it's in his hands, just doesn't get there often. Would persist.
Bad:
Worrell injury! ****ing sucks that as soon as we look settled in defence, we get another key injury. Has been that way for years.
Keane, Butts, Curtin and Michalaney all pretty ineffective in the air.
McHenry. What more needs to be said about this guy. Can't snap a goal from 8 meters out. Makes terrible decisions all the bloody time and doesn't have any strength to get himself out of trouble that he does so well to get into.
Curtin was very average as a defender. Looked like he's never played as a defender before. Was also bad to sub the guy again at half time. Give him a more attacking role ffs.
Smith needs to go. Has had worse games this year, but he's holding back players like Nank, Curtin and Ryan coming through.
Nank had his worst game. Couldn't do much right including that last bounce on the wing. A bit unfair to single him out though. Let's hope the coaches don't do something stupid and drop him. Dumb to make the guy sub.

It was an idiotic decision before the injury and the injury just rammed home it being even more than idiotic. Curtin should have shifted further up the ground and an adjustment should have been made before making the call ont he sub.
You could see Nicks literally had his head in his hands when he made that decision, he knew it was a bad move.

Bad: Playing Curtin in a defensive role. It is like Nicks wants him to fail.

How is our gameplan so inflexible we prefer to sub out a 2nd gamer at half time than put him in an attacking role that compliments his play style.
