Good
Walker - Captain's game. Led by his actions. One horrible shank but some deft touches. Excellent.
The holy trinity of Rories - outstanding once more. 3 votes Laird 2 votes Atkins 1 vote Sloane
Brouch - played some nice footy. His development will be crucial to any finals success we may have.
Lyons - stood up when others were down in the middle. Loved his game.
Lynch - absolute workhorse.
Cameron - is millimetres away from tearing a game apart. Would love to see him do some work with Macca to develop his kicking action. Has the ability to completely annihilate games with his explosiveness and hardness at the ball.
Brown - best small defender in the competition. Simply outstanding and criminally underrated.
McGovern is such a strong grab. You back him in even when it's a 3 V 1.
Douglas - probably his best game of the year

Bad
Some shitty decision making
Our backline played their worst game as a unit bar none.
Some hideous non-calls by the umpires - So many strong tackles not rewarded and that deliberate rushed behind should see that umpire without work for a week or two. Disgrace.
Jenkins had a poor game
Mackay - close to his worst game of the year. Took a step backwards today.

Ugly
Brodie Smith
had one of the most putrid games of football I've seen (and I include Seedsman's game against Geelong). Never seen one man have everything he touches turn to absolute shite. Needs a wake up call because the heat goes up and he has a tendency to go missing.

Overall - glad to get a win against a team that traditionally has beaten us at that venue regardless of ladder position. Plenty of improvement to be had when we return to play the blues next week. Don't think Pyke would be overly enamoured with that effort

Good:
Douglas
Laird
Walker working up the ground helped out big time
Composure when the game was on the line in the third and last quarter.
Thommos 100th game in a row
We got the job done
Melbourne's pressure

Bad:
Field Kicking
Decision Making
Both of the above linked together

Ugly:

Umpiring kept Melbourne in the game at crucial stages. Ray Chamberpot, you are a maggot!!

Umm no it wasnt

Are you seriously agreeing with Sandy that it was Thommo's 100th in a row?

Sorry, just saw the replies - didn't mean to pile on

We won ugly and that's all that matters. We played poorly but did enough to win. You need to defeat a top 4 side away to be taken seriously as a premiership contender and we have failed that. If we can finish top 4 though, anything is possible.

We survived a danger game. We get the 4 points. At this stage of the year it doesn't matter how you get the win just as long as you do.

The good;

Lyons - good game, lots of composure, uses it well; third best.

Brad Crouch - dragged us back into in the third; probably second best.

Laird - star, would be AA if he hadn't missed games again; he kept us in it when we were under siege.

McGovern - stood up when it counted.

Atkins - showed up a lot of his senior mates with his poise and composure.

Hartigan - he's a genuine top line defender; not at Talia or Rance level, but comfortably in the rung beneath.

The bad -

backline cohesion disappeared - too many times we spoiled each other, or took poor choices; flustered from the pressure.

Senior players again going missing; Douglas good for goals, but did nothing the rest of the day; not good enough. Mackay - had twenty touches, but no impact.

Thommo - terrible game; can he play on the MCG? Needs to prove it next week.

The Ugly;

Lever - had an absolute shocker. Been killing it though, and he's still a rookie, so it'll happen.

Smith - everything he touched turned to shit. He's been very inconsistent this year; we need to consider dropping him to see if he can get his mojo back.

Agree with everything except sending Smith to the 2's. I'd prefer he spends a bit more time around the contest. Perhaps see how either Milera or Doedee go in the backline. Doedee's been in the best every game since the first North Adelaide game.

Much better game from Brad today. Looked a lot more up to speed with the game, particularly as it went on. Less fumbly too.

Thommo is really starting to struggle. Hasn't cracked the 100SC mark since the round 5 game vs Hawthorn. HAS to be his last year.
