Apparently this was the first time Mark Keane's parents had ever been to an AFL game

The club brought them over from Ireland to watch him

Collingwood never did
Collingwood probably couldnt as it was right in the middle of Covid in 2020 when he played for them wasnt it?

Why did they play Wines on a wing?

We'd be howling with rage if we did something like that.
So they could give more minutes to youngsters JHF 3 clearances, Butters 6 clearances and Rozee 3 clearances?

Worked well hey?

Got absolutely pantsed by Crouch 12 clearances, Dawson 4 clearances, Laird 4 clearances, Schoenberg 3 clearances

Either same defence as second half or Borlaise

Worrell and Keane and Hinge as next man up prob gets it done if tonight plays out again

How did Marshall and Finlayson go tonight ?

And Dixon ?
Nah ...you get away with it for one game .....it's foolish to believe you can rely on the setup week after week

Having two KPD's with a total of 1 game for the Club, is IMO not an option .....it'll be interesting, but our KPD stocks are very low

Hinge did a very good job on SPP, think he's a bit underrated on how much he can get their forward line working through just sheer contest work. He had 5 effective disposals for the game and 5 clangers.

Crouch did very well in moving the ball quick. Still had a few moments where he takes 15 seconds to look at every option to just decide he's gonna bomb it long, but way less than he normally does.

Keane and Nankervis obviously need more experience and made a few bad decisions, but they've both got real tools to their games that could see them become good players for us.

ROB did well in the ruck and took advantage of Port putting a 2nd gamer on him.

Midfield worked well, but still would have liked to have Schoenberg in there more. With Crouch in and Laird back there's just not a ton of opportunities for him. He got a little run in the 3rd quarter, but basically gets crumbs for most of the game. Nicks couldn't help himself on putting Sloane in there in the 4th, which was a bit annoying to be honest and Sloane ended up with 6 CBA'S in a half to Schoenberg's 7 for a full game.

Not quite sure how we won.
Felt like Port got the ball a lot and we just ripped it off them. Monster tackles all game long.

Hinge and Milera were huge. Many good runs and disposals to keep it up forward for us.

Back line is suspect, but held up well this time. Keane was great.

Surprised by Crouch. He was great.

Felt like in the early 00s I went to countless showdowns and we never won

Can someone provide some numbers on how many we lost in a row?

Since that darkest momen5 where there had a big lead, we've really turned it around.
They were well ahead until Pyke had a massive run over hinkley (I reckon 6 or more) until the famous hinkley signaling the 0-1 when he finally win one and reset the counter. Back to pretty 50-50 since I think

For all the talk about Port wanting to bring in a key defender, I'd be worried about the forward line even more. Dixon is done, Marshall is pretty "meh", Finlayson is a support piece at best and all the talk is Mitch Georgiades is out the door.

Port won 7 in a row from late 2000 to 2005

Lots of good tonight, so I will concentrate on what I thought was the best (and some that may not have been mentioned):

Tex. An easy pick for the Showdown medal, and a career/All-Australian year.

Milera. If not for Tex, my BOG. The best game I have ever seen him play, the most fearless as well as skillful.

McAdam. Ran his nuts off all night, contested everything - his first quarter shook up Port, and opened up Tex and Fog to one-on-one contests.

Keane. Finally rewarded for great SANFL form, and despite a nervous first grab of Dixon, went on to own his territory. Well done!

Combined with Worrell, Hinge (and Butts until injured) Ports forward weapons of Marshall, Finlayson, Dixon and SPP were impotent. Take a bow guys!

Nankervis followed up a great debut with another great pressure game - he belongs, and plays a lot bigger than his slender frame suggests.

The Bad: Port's "concussion protocol" or complete lack of. This has got way beyond a joke. As it is, Brad Ebert for starters should be getting ready to sue their butts off for negligence, and a player like Aliir is way too good and important for them to be treated with such disrespect (not to mention a young talent like Jones). The AFL should step in to demonstrate this is not good enough, and it stops right now.

The Ugly: We have to stop booing JHF for no particular reason. We are better than that. I was proud that our supporters didn't resort to booing Adam Goodes during that ugly time, but to see that tonight was disgusting. He is a kid. He has done nothing to burn our club. Sure, do it to put him off for a shot at goal, but to do it anytime he is near the ball is stupid, childish, disrespectful and pathetic. Like I said, we should be better than this.

And no one is giving them a first rounder for Georgiades.

Should have let him go 2 years ago. Would have then.

Freo don't need him. WCE have other priorities.

Am I wrong in thinking Port might try to be using weasel words to get Jones out of missing next week in protocols by saying he was taken out with a "migraine" rather than concussion?

To be fair, his games with Collingwood were deep within covid times, so travel might've been more heavily restricted. Good on the club for getting his family and gf over though.

How did ports key forwards go today ?

We had our first picked 3 defenders out for most of game ( Murray Doedee Butts )

Is Murray dead or just out until round 10 next year ?

Just get a back up cheap trade in , who cares

Least of our worries

Have been doing much of the year, along with Boak.

Makes them unbalanced.

I forgot Wines was even playing tip 3rd quarter.
